Hi guys, would i be right in saying that generic OBD cant access as much info on a BMW as say Carsoft or DIS ? Sorry if this has been asked a million times.

Yes, completely correct. Even for the engine and automatic gearbox. The other systems can't be accessed by OBD2/EOBD, so almost anything can do more.
And on older BMW's OBD2 (USA) or EOBD (Europe) can't access anything at all.
