So, x-trail, 2003, engine code: YD22ETI, 84 kw, diesel high pressure pump is denso 167008H800.
Problem began, when car refuse to start with cold engine. If you spray booster in intake manifold - it will start, after engine warms up - no problem to start it... Somebody advise (to client) change injectors - he did, but problem remain. Now it's a situation, that this car doesn't want to start at all. Can it be a diesel high pressure pump problem? Is it possible to check it without special equipment/ testers on the bench? Pump is not in a car at the moment... (Client want's to check that pump and he took it out before coming to me).
Maybe you, guys, will have any good piece of advice according this issue?

there is a tool, like 4 containers conected each to the retunr line of each injector, you crank the engine for a time..then see which injector is returning more than the others. that s the faulty one.
Second those pumps loose the ability to suck the diesel..after some time.
Make sure your engine coolant temp sensor is ok, and your glowplugs.

Thank you, mate. Have you ever try to fix those pumps? Reassemble it? I downloaded denso manual, but there is just a little info about it: only parts drawing. I don't know - maybe it's not worth to go inside this pump... If it is worth, maybe you know where can you get repair set (rubbers, seals and etc.) for that pump?

some pumps come with the repair kit. but this one not, also you need some special tools to calibrate it properly when opening it. It s not worth, it s best to get a used one from scrap yard or internet.
But first make sure it s the pump that is faulty.
Do you have any dignostic tool, to get the fault codes?

Word around the campfire is that these are prone for these problems and best to replace injectors and ECM!!!!!.........but it must be new units as a revision has been done to cure this problem.........In the same breathe this is just FYI and I cant say that the above is the problem but maybe just give you another angle when diagnosing!!!!

Problem is, that owner disassembled the car and pump is in a "backpack". I don't have consult or any universal diagnostic for nissan or anything for pumps. Got elm32. This brand of cars is not so popular in my cuisine.
Owner says that he replaced injectors... Anyway, he is pretty sure, that it is problem in pump, but I do not think, that I will manage to help him, especially when pump is out of car. So, scenario will be like this: i refuse to check that pump, he sends it to some workshop for renovation, and then....I will inform here about results.
