De Niro doesn't act badly in film, film can act badly around him. Legend and easily the greatest actor ever.
Showtime takes some beating for worst.
Goodfellas will more than make up for this though.

Yeah, Stone wasn't great. Well acted but pretty uneventful - I kept waiting for something to happen. As for biggest stinker De Niro has acted in, for me it's The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle.

A bad screenplay can make the best of actors/actresses look really ham on screen. The big stars of the 50's and early 60's were just that and ,in my opinion, from then on we started to get actors who had 'presence' on screen.
Pacino,Hackman,Connery,Bronson and DeNiro ,to mention a few, had presence.
I could never understand the fuss about Laurence Olivier until I saw Marathon Man when he swamped Dustin Hoffman's acting.Hoffman being too much the perfectionist.
Deniro's getting on in years now and I suppose it's a grind now to get back to his box office status again but I think he might have one more good role to do still if only his agent could find it for him.

when righteous kill was out last yr i was dragged to see it and again i didnt rate it and even my b/f admitted it was a huge disappointment. the most recent fockers film was shockingly bad and now this stone movie. surely a man of his experience should know a good script etc.

As stated, he's getting on a bit now. This could just be those stupid things he's wanted to try before he kicks the bucket.

DeNiro has long been linked to the gangster scene, as much as Stallone was linked to action movies. But Stallone then went & made Tango & Cash, more a comedy role. It didn't kick start a new line of work for him, but he wanted to give it a go.
Arnie made Twins, True Lies, Kindergarten Cop. Again, comedy roles from someone tied in to the action movie genre.

Every actor has made some incredibly bad movies. But it's the huge performances they are remembered for... For me it was DeNiro's performance in Cape Fear.

'I ain't no white trash piece of shit. I'm better than you all! I can out-learn you. I can out-read you. I can out-think you. And I can out-philosophize you. And I'm gonna outlast you. You think a couple whacks to my guts is gonna get me down? It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than that, Counselor, to prove you're better than me! '

easily the most menacing criminal in film what an actor, what a film!

Limitless wasn't a bad show, hardly an oscar winner but easy to watch. There have been very few scripts suited to De Nero's style, think he takes the best of a bad bunch. Could do with a good Gangster flick, though portraying a modern mobster might be slightly less interesting to watch.

Imagine the hysteria if he made that movie now.
