Cheers I merged the two posts together, as I know you were restricted to the amount of pics on one post.

We can keep them all on your first post and it will show all on one post.

Turns out I have the exact same model as in the pics! handy.

3.5 is fine. I just was confused, doesn't fit like in a PC!

Yup 3.5, you can also fit a 2.5 using the brackets.

After purchasing a VU+ this week and looking at this i now know i need at 3.5" sata, i had a 2.5 caddy 320 gb external which may do, but have you seen the price of 1TB 3.5 Sata recently, and i can't even get a discount and i work for Cgate:stupido:

Trying to fit my HDD now, Can't see how the brackets will work with a 2.5" HDD it will still move about even under the brackets is that correct?

The standard cradle that comes with the Duo is only suitable for 3.5" HDD's unless they have changed it since i got mine. The one that comes with the Uno however is suitable for both 2.5" and 3.5" drives.

I'll upload some photos of both on Thursday when i get a day off work to show the differences. ( i have to do a fresh install on both for testing purposes any way ).

ok here we go. here is a picture of the Uno HDD cradle which is suitable for use with both a 2.5" and a 3.5" HDD.

with the 2.5" drive the hdd sits over the inner holes and with the rubber grommets in place it is very solidly held in place.

LMAO i did the same thing when i got my Duo as i got it early december around 9 or 10 months after the Uno. it took me a few minutes to twig on that the cradle was for a 3.5" driver only as opposed to the one in the Uno.

will standard hard drive screws work to attach it to the vu+ duo bracket? Becuase the ones you would attach on the horrizontal side of a hdd for a pc case look to small.

I'm a newbie to all of this but am taking the plunge and ordering a VU+ Duo imminently. I'll be buying a seperate internal HDD and fitting it myself to save some money so this tutorial will come in handy when I get around to doing it, so thanks in advance.
