oh happy days, t rex, baycity rollers, mud, slade, platforms, baggy trousers, penny rounds, long hot summers, cheap beer and pubs was full ...summer of 76 was one long hot one, 77 olivia newton john. 78 world cup argentina......just a few memories of that wonderful era... i might be using rose tinted glasses but life seemed so simple then, cars easy to fix, no mobiles, no pc,s, no sky/cable
oh yes and the mini skirt

I remember it well.Always played Slade B sides as they were 'heavier' than the chart topping stuff. Was well seasoned to the mini skirt by then and wore the bell bottoms.
You could open the bonnet on a car and see the ground below on both sides of the engine and you had to use the computer in your head to solve all the problems.

The 70's were the best years man... early 70's the 6 week summer holidays were 4 month long, grass was greener, fruit and Colour tellys were more tasty and colourful..
Late 70's the yammy fizzy, endless supplies of virgins, Proper pop bands... Oh how I long for those days again.

I was a wee nipper back then, but I've got the photo's to prove I was there.

Tortured by Abba, Country & western and lot's of nasty stuff I've managed to block out. But there were always Queen & Paper Lace to pick me up a bit.

School film club... One of our dinosaurs is missing will forever be etched into my mind.

Kids tv seemed to be more about educating & exercising our brains. Where now it's how hip & street they can make it.... Bagpuss, Jamie & his magic tourch, Chorlton & the Wheelies, Why don't you, Jim'll Fix it, Tisswazz, Multicoloured swap shop.

Star Wars!

born in 69, so grew up in the 70's, what I do remember is... when you got in from school, you were kicked out on the street to play and weren't allowed back in till dark lol. Kids nowadays are too busy to go out to play, spoiled rotten lol. And of course, the Baycity rollers.... wow

missed the 70s, being born in 77 and that; but always saw the 70's as a rehearsal for the 80s....

I think I missed them really. I "went" in 1971 when I left school and didn't get back till 1983. No idea where I was.

i've heard of these 70's you speak of and i'm of the opinion that it was a far more superior decade than the world has had since. i was born in 79 so i was lumbered with the sh1tty 80's & 90's to help me become a man.
now, since i've become a man, i want to be a kid again, but a kid in the 70's

Easy for you to say :D, I was born in 1990, so shity time, but those 90s were not "normal" 90s in my country since there was war going on till 1995. So those 90s were more similar to 80s in some other, western country.

I also remember the 70s well, I remember my first pair of monkey boots, lumberjack coats, collecting bonfire wood in a bogey we made ourselves with old pram wheels and a plank of wood, getting time off school because of strikes, and packs of 5 cigarettes (cost 14p), and you could have hours of fun in phone boxes annoying the operator.

I changed the gearbox on my dad's Ford Cortina in the 70's. Took a few hours, but was relatively easy. Changed a few master cylinders on it too and adjusted the clutch and rear brakes. Cars were easy to work on in the 70's. almost everything could be changed/worked on.
Modern cars however are completely different beasts, designed for garage technicians to work on.

I got burned to bits playing with my fire engine in the back garden in the 76 heatwave, got sunstroke and needed medical attention.

We had a swing, my sisters friend went over the top on it.

My mam and dad were out, so we sneaked friends around, they turned off all the lights and played a dracular audio cassette, I was terrified and had nightmares for months.

I got my fingers squashed in the mangle.

My dad left his razor out, so I thought I would copy what he does, my mam had to get extra towels from the neighbours to stop the bleeding.

Aye, happy days lol

That Summer of 76 seemed to last forever, might be the senility kicking in but i don't remember a Summer as good as that one since. Remember the save water/bath with a friend campaign. They even had stickers for it.
Me and my friends didn't get a chance to be bullied, get battered and no matter the size of the batterer, told to get out and dont come back in till you'd beaten him or else. Changed days, do that now and you'd have the police and social workers at the door.
First drink at the school disco with everyone stealing a bottle from home and making mixed punch lol. How ill were we in the morning. And not a ~~~~ing yankee style prom dress in sight. High waisters, brogues with segs, tanktops (I had a bright yellow one gads) definitely the decade that fashion forgot. And I finished the second half of the decade as a punk, ~~~~in great days

Some great memories from the 70's..My first proper kiss with Christine Wilcox round the back of a garage, i remember our teeth clattering together in a most unromantic way. lol.
I remember watchin wide eyed as Evel Knievel jumped buses and then the next day me and my mates (who are now my brother in laws) making their sister (whos now my wife) lay on the road while we jumped over her on our bikes.

She still reminds me of it to this day...
