After using a Technomate 1600 CI for quite a few years I think its about time I upgraded. What would be the box to go for? I like the operating system on the Technomate so something similar would be good. I would also like USB PVR and HD. Any one got ant ideas?

Cheers

Ive just bought a tm5402, it seems a cracking little box so far. Very stable and very fast channel zapping. Half decent epg too.

Thanks for your replys.

Would I be able to use an ethernet/LAN cable from my STB box to a laptop or does it have to come directly from the router? I do no want to run an ethernet/LAN cable around the house but my wireless lap top sits close to where the STB would be.

Does the STB have to be connected to the internet all the time or just when updating the box? Is there many channels to get than I presently get on my old TM1600CI, I use a motorised dish.

Sorry for all these questions but I must be years behind the new Tech.

Cheers!

Techno ate 5402 and blade bm7000s hd are more or less same box. Both are pretty straight forward to setup.

You'll need Internet access to the box to make the most out of cccam and other sharing facilities

look into home plugs for internet through your mains plugs as that can be used instead of running cables everywhere, they work great when on the same ring or connect 2 rings, like 2 circuits getting connected in house upstairs and downstairs.

Your comfortable on your platform of technomate, The blades a good box, But the Technomate 5402 PVR USB HD is as equally as good from what I hear, stick to what your comfortable with, you'll have less problems, Of course that is if you want to be comfortable, if you want something now then yeah go with the blade !

Regards.
