STAR - unable to access........

Hi

i have 3/2010 star and my vehicle is throwing up a ETC fault which is electronic transmission control. The vehicle goes into all auto gears fine but wont go forward or backwards.

Anyway back to my question...

My star wont let me access the ETC module. It comes up with a error to contact STAR DIAGNOSIS.

Is this normal or anyway around it? i just need to access it to check fault codes.

If its telling you to contact STAR, thats usually a software malfunction in the tester as opposed to the vehicle. Unfortunately, unless you keyed an odd response or theres a short or some strange activity on the can bus...the general idea is a glitch or an error either overall or just for that particular vehicle. Can you get access to any other ETC capable tool anywhere and see if its just yours or if the ETC is spacing any tool thats plugged in?

Its strange because its only ETC and DISTRONIC that it will not communicate with. I have another star to hand luckily and i will try that. I may also upgrade the software to 2011 which ive just downloaded.
