Where are you? Massive dish... Do you have a actutator and 2 vbox? Or is it a stationary dish? You should get digitalb 16e, conax 1w, and some others alongside digitv.

Hi sadiq

I am in Northern ireland,The dish used to be stationary but we converted it to motorised and put on a new lnb,
We picked it up cheap one day while working at a pub.

We are getting digitalb on 16e as we have the supersports card.

I would like to get as much stuff as possible on my diablo light just not sure what i should be looking for.

Cheers chris

from your possition with a 1mtr dish you should get thor 1w ok
and the diablo opens lots of chns on this sat, both on canal+ nordic
and digi-tv you will open about 400 chns, the cam also opens chns on
8w, 5e, 9e,and 16e being the main satellites and you dont need the supersports card the cam opens supersports channels alog with all the
digialb chns except the HD chns on digialb these are only open on there dedicated receiver, if you had a HD satellite receiver there are lots of HD
channels and chns on astra 3@ 23.5e that only open with a hd receiver

I want to buy a decent receiver to drive the actuator with HD and able to use cams but i am not sure what to go for( i have been looking at some Q boxes)

My dad has an echostar 3600 that used to drve the dish.

Thanks chris

hi m8,
i use a 1.2 chn master dish on a 36v superjack motor
and a v-box to convert a diseqc motor to drive a 36v motor
most new receivers are now only diseqc. as for receivers
everyone has different views as to whats the best, i use a
tm 6900 HD receiver and the quality is first class, with receivers
a lot depends on if your just after as much tv as possible with as
little programming as possible, if so the technomate fits the bill
or you could look at the clarke-tech 5000 HD combo same spec
as the tm 6900 but it's more stylish and a slimmer receiver
if your good with a computer and networking then a dreambox is
the best for c/s etc: but no good for the diablo cam there's no
cam slot on the db 8ooHD and there new db 8000 HD has a very
large price tag and i dont know if the qbox has a cam slot as it does
exactly the same as the diablo cam for channels

Hi benny

I am o.k with computers and dont mind programming the diablo cam.
Can the dreambox get all the channels a diablo cam can get or would it be best going for the technomate if so what model would you recommend.

There is a few echostars 3600 on ebay at the min are they any good or are they out dated.

Cheers

A dreambox will get you different amounts depending on how many people and who you share with.. But often with cs you will suffer lag... Technomates are only good now for card and cams...

hi chris,
there are many things changing at the moment and encryptions are changing and there are many views as to which way to go if you can get in a cardshare you can get more channels to view but you need a official sub card to share before you can join the group
and this can be expensive if you get a new box card etc,and you need the receiver connected to the computer at all times with a ethernet cable and all the set up it takes to use this method, it's a steap learning curve so if this is not for you then go for a receiver that has cam and card slots and use the cam, now the echostar receivers these are old receivers now
i had the 3600ip years ago and i dont know if they work with a diablo cam i had lots of problems with it when useing the dragon/t-rex cams and had
to use modified files before the box would read the cam. and now nearly all are diseqc motor feature only. i would go for one of these and use a v-box they are cheap to buy i paid ?39 for mine.plus if you have a HD tv then i
would get a HD receiver to get the best of whats available there are many more features on the new receivers so dont limit yourself with a old model. the choice of receiver is what ever you like but i have
had years of good service from technomate's they are good quality and very easy to setup etc: i'm sure other will give you there views on this subject

Hi Benny

I would like to get the best kit when i am buying and wouldnt mind getting a subscription card if i could get a lot of channels by sharing.

what kind of box would i need for this and would it be easy to join a club and what other equip will i need.

This sounds like the best way to go and i would be very gratefull if you could advise me .

Thanks

chris.

hi m8,
i'm not on card share or know which is the best group to join.
i know you need a sub card thats not on the share server to get in,
i'm sure others who do this now will give you more info than i can.
as for a receiver i would say the dreambox is the one to go for
and you need a memory stick, null modem cable for certain tasks
you also need a lan ethernet cable to connect the receiver to
your modem, from box to modem you use a strait wired from box to
computer a crossover cable, i hope i have remembered correctly

Hi Benny

After reading that i think i will go for a good quality technomate and v box,
It sounds very technical for a beginner

Where would be the best place to get my receiver and lnb and new 18" actuator the old one is seized,

Thanks

Chris

hi m8,
the dreambox is a bit tricky at first and it is a lot to take on for a new
sat user and you would still need the v-box to move the dish
now if your going to changed the superjack motor your self there
is a square cover with four screws over where the wires go into the motor
make sure they are changed over in the corect order or you will blow the
reed switch, also look on the rear of the receiver which wire goes write
it down you will have motor 1 motor 3 read or pulse and ground
these have to go on the rear of the v-box in the correct order or the motor
will be damaged, i will add how to set a v-box up doc for you to download
and read, on this post, as for the other info
i dont like to put links to other dealers i will send you a pm

Benny... Can you not power these 'big dishis' via the mains or is that stupid?
Sorry not trying to hijack.. The following answer may be helpful to the op..

not that i know of mate,
they work on a 36v motor useing a four wire connected to a v-box that converts 36v to diseqc 1.2 when used with modern receivers that now dont support the 36v motor feature, which is a step back in my opinion, unlike diseqc 36v dont get knocked off line in high wind
it does require two cables from the dish a four wire motor cable and the cable from the lnb. and a 36v moves the dish faster and when set correctly never misses it's target when changing satellites. everyone should be aware that you cant use the [usuals motor settings]
with a v-box and 36v superjack motor and if you mix the motor wires with reed/pulse or ground wires you will blow the reed switch in the motor.and you can buy a stand alone box to move the dish, i dont know why
anyone would go this way. once the dish limits are set. you then control everything with the receiver remote just as a diseqc motor set up
