Hi all,
i currently have a little experience with a s9 box which was very easy to set up and use. (Set this up for a friend)
now looking for a better box that can do more
can anyone advise me on:
1. best place to buy a clone dm800 with m3 tuner ?
2. Tools and software i will need to load image on the box
3. the best image that is Sly UK user friendly (i.e the misses)
can you select a tv program from an epg listing and set it to record for example?
4. can u load c line and software upgrades on boxes via usb like a open box?

Hi mate.
1. alot of people on here give ukdreamshop high reviews (not used them myself) Also you should be looking for the new Pro dreambox 800HD clone with sim 2.01 and the latest M801A tuner.
2. You do not need any image to flash the receiver as it can be done over the web interface (there is a sticky on flashing 800HD on here) but you will need DreamboxEdit to upload bouquets to your receiver. Also download Dreambox Control Center and Dreamup.
3. I currently use Dream Elite Blackhole Pheonix Edition, excellent menu layouts, nice epg layout can select channel from EPG and record, also has youtube plugin working which i couldnt get working on any other images. (i can send you a link to this image at the weekend, right now not got access to my pc as i am away at work)
4. c lines and so on can be saved or loaded to box using Dreambox Control Center.
Hope this is of help to you its the Dreambox 800HD Pro (latest tuner i have) and i cannot fault it, runs smoothly and I installed a 320GB Internal samsung spinpoint hard drive in it which is more than enough memory for me.

I will second what gary1312 says especially , Dream Elite Blackhole Pheonix Edition, as for your bouquet i would go for catseyes settings as they are like your sly box with similar sections ie sport docs lifestyle movies etc.

also if you are not bothered about the Sky numbering the SGTFlipFlop bouquets which can be found on the stickies in the dreambox section on here are very good the only change i make is I add a 'All Channels' bouquets.

i brought a dm500 pre configured about a year ago, used it for a bit. but didn't really understand what to do with it. i have since set up s9 for a friend and loving the HD quality. i have now been experimenting with the dm500, practicing for when i get 800 :)

i started of with a 500s and loved it got two now in my home but my 800hd with the image i mention above the 500s's dont come close. what i didnt like about some images for the 800 was they looked very much like a enigma 1 image if that makes sense but the image i have mentioned looks very smart and modern.
Just take your time with it mate when i started i felt like banging my head off a brick wall at times now i am looking in to more sat receivers with twin/trible/quad tuners. it turns in to more of a hobby were at first for me it was just about channels.

totally agree with lombard. The 500 is great for the bedroom.
I also dont understand when people say the 800 is a much harder receiver to set up if anything i found it easier than when i first got a 500. Its all just about knowing what sim, bootloader you have. uploading bouquets is just the same and so on.

when you power up your receiver it will tell you on the oled display also if its the latest sim 2.01 look under your receiver and there should be a sticker saying sim 2.01

Coming from the cable scene I have to admit that I did initially find the sat scene very confusing, the bit about bootloaders, sim versions and images at that time made my head hurt.
But after getting the box and doing lots of reading you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. Essentially you either buy an original Dreambox or do what the I did and get a clone. Clones have a SIM card which has a version and a bootloader version. Providing you ensure that the image you want to use is suitable for a clone and is also for your SIM version and for your bootloader everything should be fine.
One last thing is read and read again, when updating images I always make sure a dozen times that the image I'm going to use is correct, recovery is possible if you make a cock up but it's easier to guard against the cock up in the first place :)

recovery is a pain in the ass to be honest only needed to do it once as someone assured me that it was right image for the right sim and bootloader, guess what? It wasnt lol.

Thank you for your helpful post. I just ordered a DM800S/ DM800HD (PRO) clone, and I'm reading the forums and following some of the guides to build on the knowledge so I know how to setup the box. I have looked through the boxkey, dreambox edit, dreamup, dreambox control center guides, and posts, but I'm a little unclear how much I will need to load or install when I get my box.
I'm curious to know, which steps and parts I'm likely to have to use? How does the Clone version limit what I can install, or is this not an issue anymore? I will be using it with a Sky HD subscription. I know I will have to load boquets, but what other things would need adding or installing?
The clone I'm getting will have the following: Bootloader SSL82 Gemini v5.10, SIM version 2.01 Tuner version (M)
Would appreciate any input you had, and didn't want to start a new topic as once I know which steps to take I will read the individual tutorials.
Thanks :)

Hi
I recently purchased a DM800 Hd PRO from UKDREAMSHOP.
Although it was delivered quickly as promised, I am having trouble making contact with the company as i have a faulty receiver. They have a PO Box address in Essex which is not a good sign. No Telephone Number, and can only be contacted via email. I have emailed them on several occasions to no avail. At present going through GOOGLE checkout to whom I made the transaction through to get them to make UKDREAMSHOP refund or replace the receiver.(My next route will be trading standards).
I for one would not recommend them to anyone purchasing goods if their backup service is non existent.:mad:
