Hi

Had stuck my box into Kein System by Phlashing
a 2x on to my 1x box, Tried to flash an image by using
FlashAssit from the H'berg site, was able to connect fine,
it ran for about an hr the LCD just said back up and a
progress box filled up, on the pc the dialog box just said flashing.
In the end it said FlashA had encountered a problem and needed to
close so no joy.

if you want to use ifa yes i use a null modem cable plus a crossover cable i think they say if you do it that way it has 30 times better chance of it connecting

Your not thick. If you've never done it then how do you know?

I'm new too but you can learn lots if you read the guides and other posts.

There is a nine pin D shaped connector on the back of your box. Make sure you get a null modem cable. If you want to read how to use the software, there are guides in the downloads section in Dbox-guides. I think you are looking for the IFA guide.

You will either be using an ethernet crossover cable to ftp into the box or you will use a null modem cable to use the IFA software.
Once your box is up and running again you should able to ftp in if you need to.

Using the FTP is much better me thinks

Bazzit...it is possible to flash an image using just a crossover cable but as father ted has stated, null modem is more succesful.

If you want to do it with just Xover cable then turn off all firewalls and even turn off any wireless networks, remove power from dbox, then start IFA and load the image and as soon as you hit the start button of IFA, turn the dbox back on. Its all about timing, try again and again and you may just get it right, I have done it lots of times but sometimes it takes more than 10 attempts, thats why I bought a null modem but if you are waiting on it arriving then give it a go with just Xover cable.

I Didn't realize you could use IFA with just a crossover.
That's something else I've learnt.

Can you use dreamup with just a crossover?

It happens quite a lot and sometimes its not your fault, the image may have been named wrongly and you flash a 1x instead of 2x or vice versa, but you have to look at the bright side and think of the stuff you learn from it happening.

When the IFA program finishes, you usually see wee smilie faces on the lcd and it will say Fertig, then reboot box. Null is the way to go, you dont even need it connected to tv because instructions are on your monitor.

I hope this is the correct German term,
Apols if not.

Null is the way when using Flashassistant it worked everytime
in fact I got so carried away I did it several times.

Thanks again for all advice
