this dash it is a golf v , the activate the ilumination works with can bus.i dont think that you can activate the ilumination by the eprom.i think that if you can emular this signal you turn on the all the lighs of the car. an if you mod the circuit of the das you have a error in the lcd of the dash

Yes it is a golf 5 dash.

I know it is possible to enable needle illumination always on by changing a byte.
I already saw it on a car.

And I did it on golf 4 cluster unit.

They are 4x possibilities:
- normal behaviour,
- needle only always on,
- needle and background always on,
- background only always on,

So when lights are ON, information is given by can and cluster set all illuminations ON. When lights are OFF, illumination become as defined in eeprom.

This settings are independant.

As I said before it is not possible with vagcom.
VW is different from audi on this point.

It is only possible by changing a byte in the eeprom.
So I don't know the byte for this model... :-(

That is why I'm asking help..

It is possible, but your advice is good.

let the customer gooooooooooooooo!

Enough problems in this job without introducing more!

Before anyone asks, yes I can do them, no, not interested in giving tutorials how.

Check this page: http://vwts.ru/forum_txt/index.php/t118774.html (scroll down, you will see youtube demo of the solution).
It is in russian, but when google translate it this is what you must do:
You must read 24lc32 eeprom content:
In your eeprom dump find record in 0h0122 address and perform according to this description:
0h0122 there should be or 74 or F4. You must change digit 4 into 2 (ie-74 change digit 4 into 2).
http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=306339&stc=1
Replace 4 into 2 - arrow lights when the ignition,
4 into 1 - light scales at ignition,
4 into 3 - Light arrows and scales with the ignition on.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! I DID NOT TRY IT MYSELF...
Hope it helps
