Buying Dreambox Clone

Hey All,

I'm seeking to buy a Dreambox clone, more specifically a Dreambox 800 HD Clone.

What I'm looking to avoid is buying directly from China, I'd much prefer to buy from the UK.

I've previously purchased from linuxsat.co.uk and I had hoped to purchase from them again to buy a better box (the old one still works!!!), however, I notice their site has been taken over by Dreambox.me.uk, Best Prices on Dreambox and CCTV (http://dreambox.me.uk/)

This is a Chinese Distributor - whilst the review I've read around seem fine, I'd much prefer to deal direct with a reputable UK firm that'll deal with problems - if problems occurred.

In short - what places can you recommend to buy from? What's your experience been?

a ?50 mark up seems alot for the chance that if the box is faulty for less hassle for a return. although i had trouble with my tuner and it took about 6 weeks to get a replacement it only cost me ?5. i understand why the op wants a uk supplier but ?50 is taking the P*** imo, regards mdt

Yeah, ?50 is a huge mark up to deal in the UK.

Anyone know anywhere else with ~ ?25 markup or so.

don't think anyone will only do a small mark up in UK as goods are being seized lately by customs heard so many reports so UK sellers are running the risk of losing there goods when entering UK so i understand there markup because when they are let in the country you pay customs charges etc

ebay will be your best best, DM800HD PRO clones are around 155 quid on there sometimes.

Most other UK suppliers will but on at LEAST a 50 quid markup...it;s actually more than that for them...they buy in bulk and no doubt buy them for lower prices...

Primusat..only sells Ferarri SIM clones, which means they have no heatsink or Fan installed.

Uk Dream Shop sells SIM 2.01 based DM800HD PRO units with Rev M tuners. Which are a better buy than the Ferarri versions. Faster development of patched bootlaoders, and much more patched image sipport from MFaraj/RamiMaher etc..

But what you should consider is....all of these units come from China anyway...why would you want to pay more money froma UK supplier for exactly the same product ??? The only advantage is quicker support if theres a fault.


For the record Linuxsat still exists, he closed down and re-appeared under a different name...ripped a lot of people of and refused to honour warranties on products he sold under Linuxsat... Claimed the new company is called "x" so we dont have to honour warranty....

So moral of the story...there are a lot of rubbish UK sellers aswell which are ebst avoided...so buyin from UK is not always better ! Satronics is another exapmple...DP NOT buy from there !

Well, I've ordered it from China using DHGate, now let's see if it turns up....I used linuxsat before and they were brilliant, but I don't like that they've hopped domains, passing the domain on and rebranded.

I appreciate the advice. Why they insist on marking "sample" or "gift" is beyond me - as the custom tax threshold is above their value anyhow.

In case anyone was following this thread, order was received fine and in great condition as described.

Just remember if your buying from abroad, expect to pay VAT assuming you're playing fair and declaring.
