Looking for help advice and/or guidance on extracting my secruity code from my VDO500 cd car radio ! location of the eprom chip would be a good start best or cheapest or both eeprom reader or writer to use as well as progs to use ...

I already have24Cxx,93Cxx and 25xxx Eeprom Programmer MCU development Tool and the PonyProg2000 software I'm hoping this is a good start ! Totally new to this !

I have exp with xbox/wii/psp/iphone mods and basic soldering skills though normally get away with most I've tried so far ... just !

Any help would be greatly received any more info needed just ask, thanx :manusign: (don't hold it against me :p)

remove the bottom cover and remove/read 24c16 and save then load your dump to calcgen which you can download here, this will also reset the counter for you if need be,

I'm not getting the 'remove/read' bit, sorry. Is 24C16 written on the chip coz if it is I'm not seeing it. When you say remove it has to be desoldered right ..? Is there any chance of an image to help me locate it, as I said totally new to this and I dont think the link worked my friend ... It says download here but unable to click on any link.

Thanks for the help :)

ok you need to look at the bottom of pcb and locate 8 pin eeprom marked 24c16,remove it with hot air but be sure to mark pin 1 first then read it with your programmer then save the file.then open calcgen and select phillips and load your 24c16 file to it and it will generate your code then you can resolder your chip and job done,i,ll send you the software.

pin 1 is bottom left, you may need to get an adaptor for your programmer but well worth it as it will see plenty of use.
