Hi guys,

I'm from hertfordshire, HP1. I am i need of some advice. I have a Polo 2005, and i've managed to loose all the keys to the car.

I have ordered a key from VW, they've charged me ?70 for just one key, which I think is disgusting. But I don't intend on paying them ?50 to program the key to the car.

I have been researching and found it is possible to add keys to the car using VAG Tacho and VCDS.

Please could some one confirm if this is possible, from what I understand, VAG Tacho 3.01 is required to read the pin from the car and then VCDS is used to add keys to the car.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks AJ

You can just try, cost nothing. Key learn procedure is on ross tech site. Remember put 0 before PIN.

When You will extra buy this device only for this reason, better go to dealer or locksmith. With VAG cars is not so easy. There can be MM dash and You cant make anything with it via obd. What engine You have? When You will buy equipment better will be VAG Commander 1.4, with it You can read PIN from ECU when diesel and from dash too.

With SDI will go 100% with Vag commander 1.4. What do You mean key schema?

normally with volkswagen you get a key tag, with a four digit number on it, with this number it is possible to cut keys for volkswagen cars.

I don't have it, but maybe some one bent in VW can get it for me using my VIN number ;-) for a price of course.

I'm sorry to hassle you autofan1965, but please could you advise a guide which I could use to do this ?

Thanks AJ

You have already ordered key from dealer? You have it? When Yes, buy Vag commander 1.4, install it on PC. Go to car, choose K-line connection and read EEPROM from EDC15. It should show You PIN number. Then ignition off, ignition on. Choose Key learning option, choose any car with KW1281 protocol, number of keys 1, PIN readed from ECU and press LEARN. Should go.
