I changed the steering angle sensor for bmw e46.
I have to encode this sensor.
someone knows how.
I have a launch x431.
and
impa cam+k

you need just calibration by GT1

first connect your car by using GT1
second make the test rapid by GT1 for all the electronic box, when the test ends you clik on based electronic case button and you clik on selection function button; after you choose SAV function and you choose chassis or body after you will have calibration steering angle sensor ; clik on and pursuit the steps.
is very easy
(sorry my english is bad) so if you will have some difficult i'm here

i have x431 too and i cant reset my e46 steering sensor ,when i try to do reset the error massage appear.
i think x431 cant do that

i do it with x431 diagun should be the same as yours software. make sure the wheel is straight or else wont work. and no dtcs stored to.

Steering sensor (LWS) on e46 is control unit on k-bus.So when you replace it it has to be recoded to match up with DSC.
In LWS you have VIN of the car.Most often case is problem with broken slider(you can open LWS and there are two sliders usually one is distroyed)
If you have INPA interface you can recode LWS with NCS and then you have to callibrate sensor (INPA or GT1)

you should remove the steering column out of the car and then open it and see what has been done internally. a diagnostic there is no way to fix the problem
