Hi all,

I am about to replace a faulty dvd drive in a friends Wii. Just wanted to check if I use the pcb board that came with the new drive or do I need to use the original pcb that came with the Wii.

Sorry if this has allready been asked, but could not find it on a search of the forum.

Cheers,

Dan.

My mates dvd was broke so i took my working dvd drive out and fitted this into his,did the 4.3 hack and added a hard drive.
Why dont you just do that its not like you need the new drive but a straight swap is fine.
I found a good guide on youtube from start to finish just remember alot of the screws are different lengths and types.

Andy.

Here you go i found the youtube clip.

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply, the new drive came in the post today, console is stripped down and ready to go, just wanted to check that the original pcb isnt needed, cuz the xbox 360 and ps3 need the original pcb or they will only play cd's and dvd films and not the games.

I only swapped it to test it at the beginning and it worked no probs but its still worth doing the hack you have the best of both worlds.
Def worth making a note of the screws else you will put the wrong screws back in like i did first time round:)
Take your time and its a 30 min job tops.
