i recently updated to the new dash so i could play the kinect big mistake...

now that my drive has been put back to stock from what i have been reading when you accept the update.

when i plug my lite-on 83850c into JF an i look at the bottom left box it doesn't match what JF reads ie:

vendor: PLDS (OK)
name: DG-16D2s (OK)
f/w Rev: 0251 (this is should read 8385? but doesn't)
reserved: ********** (OK)
DVD key: not found

also when i go to erase the drive i get this msg,

the target f/w in does not appear th match the attached drive,
this is based on a comparison of the drive bar-code,
please make sure you have done dvdkey32.

when i proceed to do DVD32 to get key this keeps on failing? no matter how many time i keep on putting the drive into half open state?

any advice appreciated. thanx

Have you got the orignal fw before you erase? How are you trying to dump the key? Tray half open wont work with LT firmwares, you will need to either MRA or probe v3 if you dont have the original key.

The FW revision changed on all phat liteons to 0251, so it wont read as the original fw.

And as stated, i would await on new FW and JF before flashing back to a custom FW

i would of thought you knew from last time not to update till the new fw come out. kinect games should still work without the update! when they hit the red button in november, you will be banned, again bro.but tbh no one knows if you will be banned.

next time a new dash comes out, don't update untill the new fw comes out, or risk your gold live for good.

Flash it in dos. I done one today and its back online no probs.

All this hype about new firmware safe on live (crap) although it does help us play our new backups.

If microsoft going to ban you they will. They know whos got a flashed box and who hasnt.

They have known who has flashed drives for a long time. They just dont want to lose the guaranteed income of xbox live by banning people. They are trying to make it as difficult as possible for people to play back ups in an effort to try and persuade people to start buying games to save the hassle of updating whenever they update the dashboard, which we are seeing happen very regularly.

That's just not true. They ban in waves. If your box gets flagged, you get banned during the next wave. No exceptions.

They haven't had a ban wave in some time, their modus operandi has changed

Really? And you can prove this, because no-one afaik knows what criteria M$ use to ban consoles.

If you know then please enlighten us lesser mortals.

Just an opinion really. A simple lesson of economics Its not cost effective to ban people as they lose out on xbox live revenue. You could argue that they replace the revenue by selling replacement consoles but a lot of people say they still sell entry consoles at a loss knowing they make the revenue back in their % of game sales and accessories / xbox live.

I personally think they if they where looking to have another ban wave, we would of seen it already. If I remember right, the lasty one was Nov 09. With the amount of updates they have done since then and people who have updated their dash without reflashing they would have a huge list to ban.

As I say Mr Janobi, just my humble opinion really.

Could be a number of reasons why we ain't been hit with anither ban wave. Maybe to help push sales of kinect. They are still high on security. Look at what we have seen in last 12 month. Ap25 security. Updates flashing drives to a new stock firmware. A new game disc still to roll out. There will be enough consoles flagged from the ap25 alone to cause a decent enough ban wave. They can do 1 when ever they like

Oh we all have opinions mate, they are like assholes, we all have one. lol

While I can see your point, it could be as simple as the fw is doing its job :)

Its normally when a big MS game comes out, so it would be Gears 3!

Na, tried to re-flash back to stock but keep getting the same warning pop up, about incorrect bar code etc, before lite-on erase.

also, when i try to boot in DOS this happens?

when i try to create a bootable dos usb pen, when i select the correct removable drive (3816 MB), the only options in the file system are, fat32 and ntfs. No FAT option,
So i change drives on the same usb pen, now(6 MB), which i can select FAT, but now i cant locate the win98 boot files. when i unzip this file i get cdrom, when i locate these files i get a msg saying,

there are no valid DOS system files at the specified location?

for some reason reading the tut on how to create a bootable usb pen, this does not work for me. or I'm doing something wrong?

the one thing i cant understand on the JF tutorial, the DVDkey 32 tab, the F/W REV does not match?, JF shows F/W REV to be 8385, but mine shows 0251? can anyone enlighten me why this is? is it because i accepted the new update?

Try iPrep. It should make your pen drive DOS bootable.

Yes the 146 dash flashes your drive to 0251 revision. You will need to use the 1.9 in tbe POST 146 folder in the firmware pack. If you still have troubles post the jungleflasher logs.

You can manually add the details from barcodes into your firmware. Its in the jungleflasher tutorial that's in the documenation folder of jungleflasher

make sure you are running the latest version of jungleflasher. The previous versions were unable to detect the key in the new dash, only the latest version can
