What codec package is the best to use? one that will play every file type or at least almost every file type?

Do a google search for the 'K-Lite Codec Pack (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=k-lite+codec&btnG=Search)'.

That will play everything.

ffdshow is a great opensource pack. Plays pretty much anything

i use the latest vista codec pack without any problems :)

i used to use the divx pro codec but then found out about ffdshow. it is for me easily the best one out there. i use it on my HTPC also
