Sky is to add Sky Sports HD 3, Sky Movies Premiere HD and FX HD during the next two months, it has announced.

No dates can be confirmed but the channels will launch throughout March and April, said a spokeswoman.

FX HD will be a bespoke channel rather than an FX simulcast. It estimates that 90% of its output will be in high definition.

It will air between 7pm and 2am and details of shows will be revealed in coming weeks. Sky confirmed it had been working with FX on selecting content and it expects to be the only service provider carrying the channel.

Sky Movies Premiere HD will screen big name new movies and one highlight will be a Titanic HD screening. Coverage on Sky Sports HD 3 will include European Tour golf.

"When these new channels are added to our existing HD line-up, our customers will be able to enjoy over 6,500 hours of must-see HD programming each month," said Stephen van Rooyen, Sky's director of product management.

"We're committed to investing in the HD programmes and channels that matter to our customers. The addition of FX, Sky Sports 3 and Sky Movies Premiere will ensure that we continue to deliver quality HD content which appeals to the whole family."
