Hi guyz n gals
Well my holiday so far has been just fantastic! The scenery has been just stunning!
We are still in New Zealand just now and the weather has been very unpredictable. Weather forecasts here are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. lol We have had lots of sun and lots of rain. Fortunately the rain has been a bit warmer than back home!!
We have been doing all the tourist stuff and so far have visited Aukland, National Park Wellington, Kaikouira and Christchurch!
I’m not gonna tell you everythiing we’ve done but just a couple of my favourite bits.
Whilst in Aukland we took a boat trip to Waitehtke Island and we hired kayaks. Hubs had an open topped kayak and I got my first shot of a Sea Kayak with a rudder system . That was fun. I managed to stay dry right up to the point when I was getting out and then a big wave from a passing boat managed to catch me and I ended up with a wet bum much to my hubby’s delight lol
The hotel in Aukland and the interisland ferry which goes from the North island to the South island provided us with free drinks and nibbles. I think we managed to get our monies worth there lol
Wellington was good highlights were the 360 degree view from the top of Mt Victoria the “te papa“ museum and harbour area.
My next favourite bit was Kaikoura
Stunningly beautiful coastline with snow peaked mountains in the background.
Due to coastal currents it is an ideal place to see sperm whales and pods of dusky dolphins. We arrived to stunning scenery and beautiful weather. We Put our names down on the reserve list for the swim with dusky dolphins for the next day incase anyone cancelled.
The next day we went on the helicopter whale watching tour and managed to spot 15 sperm whales which was a bit of a record apparently!. The whale watch was good but sperm whales are not very energetic or show offs like the Orcas. The helecopter trip was the best bit about it and it was my first time in a helicopter which was cool! We got a call to go on the dolphin swim as a couple had canceled but unfortunately we did not have enough time left to go on it.
video clip of helicopter landing here is a bit low qual as I took it on my little camera.

We’re in Christchurch just now and I will update this in a few days !! We are booked on a dolphin swim on Monday and as long as the weather doesn’t turn bad that should be a definate!!
Catch you all soon
