Don't you get a phone number with Skype?

Or you could just buy a crappy PAYGO phone for a tenner from Tesco

Yea, you can use SkypeOUT, which gives you a virtual landline number. As already suggested though, if they accept mobile numbers for new account creation, just get a SIM.

Quite a lot of the VOIP/SIP companies give out virtual phone no's these days. I've got no's in New York, Hong Kong, Oslo and London.

Many of the SIP providers give you quite fine grained control of your number location. Orbtalk for instance can get you a number from just about any std code in the UK, as well as many other countries.

I got a flextel 0844 number, it cost nothing at all for setup and running they get all the costs from the people who ring it. It's ideal to give to sites like ebay because it costs you nowt, unlike skype in and various voip sites where you have to pay each month plus setup fees.

Flextel also do personal 070 numbers FREE and 0845 numbers.

All you do is tell them to redirect the calls to whatever number you want, or voicemail, which is then emailed to you.
