Do you mean you can't find the power button or that when you press the button the phone just reads shutting down but never actually does

you could put it on airplane mode, which will stop any incoming and outgoing signals to the phone, so no texts calls or fb updates will come through, or just turn it off lol

what i mean is, you know how normally when you hold the off button for a few secs it completely shuts the phone down ?

Well with mines, the wildfire S, you press the button and the screen goes black/blank as if the phone has switched completely off, but it couldnt have because one quick press of the button again and the homepage of the phone shows up, you know what i mean ?

Normally if you shut your phone completely down it would take at least a good few seconds for the operating system and phone to boot up and you would get the HTC welcome screen etc, so it cant be done this way.

there must be another way, a simple way, surley you dont need to put it to airplane mode everytime you want it off ??? in theory its probably still not completely off in airplane mode anyway.

hope someone knows what iam on about.

Remember the smartphone is very similar to a computer. Meaning you need to hold the power button long enough to bring up a drop down list of options that will have turn phone off in there. It sound like you are not turning the phone off, it may be a short press to bring up the shutdown list but remember your phone has a fast boot on it set as default
