dear friends of DK!

i have two problems installing the WISnet Standalone 01.2011

1. error code 50. i start the installation in ewa/sdinst/setup.exe

2. when i want to start the setup by clicking sdswitch.exe comes the error "no licensenumber found"

so i can start the installation viat ewa/sdinst/setup.exe but in the last 99,99% shows me the errorcode 50. i used the weryo solution with the d2ksetup.rc but the errorcode 50 not solved.

so i try to start the setup via sdswitch.exe and than anytime comes the error "no licensenumber found"

i checked in forum but i don't see a real solution, or maybe i don't find it.

please help.

Mount both images at once and run setup from first disk sdswitch.exe
important ==> letters of disks should be in order, example G: disk1 H:disk2, not 1 on G and second 1 on I

Good Luck!

Is this a Star diagnosis computer? Please tell more about your background, a solution from weryo is always perfect but perhaps you are using it where it is not intended?

Have you tried this?

If you wish to install as a standalone version on a computer that does not have a permanent network connection (for instance a notebook), please run the following file before performing the installation:
[DVD1]:\ewa\readme\Support\Standalone_mediasens.reg
Confirm the import into the Windows Registry with "OK" and then restart the computer.

How did you reach to the error code 50 if you already at the start get an error for the E-drive?

You did not answer my question but from the E-drive I interpret that you have a Star diagnosis PC with DAS and Xentry installed and you are trying to install WIS NET Standalone to that computer. Did you try to figure out why E-drive was not possilbe? Are you sure you have enough free space on the E-partition?

Would you please post info about your HDD partitions, what size and how much free space on each?

I've seen the error code 50 myself but not for the WIS NET Standalone update, the fix instructions for the EWA NET version would not apply.

Do you think there is a different guide for each combination of an old and a new release? I thought the installation guide was posted at DK already, didn't you find it? If not, try using google advanced search for the DK site, it would likely work better than the DK search feature.

cmiiw,

if you uninstall java, and install/update it again, you have to re-install DAS & Xentry.

this little program helps uninstall stubborn old java. It is called JavaRa.

I'm disappointed when you don't show the exact error related to the selection of the E-drive, can you take a screen capture?

What about giving your computer for remote access with teamviewer?

I tried weryo's solution, but it didn't wok for me. So I made something different.
1. Take Wis dvd1 release 1/2010
2. Copy the folder with all of it's content "ewa/sdinst" from the dvd to C:\
3. Mount Wis dvd 1/2011+
4. Start the setup from C:\ewa\sdinst, not from the dvd.

After these steps I managed to install my wis 03/2011 without the error.

Good if it worked for you but this is not what how the SW was built to be used and eventually the installation cannot be complete with those old installation files. I guess we've seen it fails with the latest WIS release.

Very strange if you do not succeed installing WIS NET Standalone with the "weryo approach", I would spend some time figuring out what is different in your current setup that prevents this to work. Once you can solve the issue, you can be sure that you have a clean setup.

Well first few times when I was installing it, I was changing the d2ksetup and then starting the installation from SDswitch.exe... and at the final I was getting the errror...

Hi Stefan,

I've followed your steps & able to complete the installation without error 50 at the end.

Now the program won't launch-It's only load 40-50 percents(the Java launching status bar) & disappearing.

I've tried updating Java to the latest version but no go.

Does anyone have this problem or have a solution for it?

Thanks in advance!

I guess your guest OS is XP SP3 anyway, the host OS should not matter?

On a Star diagnosis computer you should install WIS as the Standalone version, follow weryo's advice from years ago and start installation from SDSwitch.exe.

If you prefer EWA NET, try to install EPC first and then WIS from the update link instead of the admin tool.

Thank you for your early reply. DB
you are right. now I try EWA NET install EPC first. then It is running. I will report later. I think the wrong order cause problems.

thank you DB. thanks DK

--------------

It works. we should install EWA EPC first then wis later. now EPC and wis working perfect. only I can't make shortcut on desktop by Java.
I follow the step. After running the EPC & WIS program from ewa net "At least one time", goto:

control panel ---> java ---> general tab.

Then on the temporary internet files section ---> setting ---> view applications.

Then ull find EPC & WIS paths, right click ---> install shortcut.

but it fail.

so bad
