Well, depends on the chassis you want to support is going to make the difference in the tools you buy.

If you want full support of all chassis (E and F) with full dealership level access. You'll want to buy an ICOM+ISIS Server combination.

There's many different places to get one, if you want the full official setup, or one of the many modified versions to run on a laptop or virtual machine.

Or you can go the Autologic route, it's not cheap, but can do about everything the dealership systems can do plus a number of custom things. And if you want, you can add additional makes to it as well, like Land Rover, Porsche, etc.

there are some cheaper versions available also on ebay like Inpa K+D+CAN with DIS 57 and SSS 32 that work great, I have one and I'm very satisfied also because it was bought for $140.

Right, alot of it depends on what you want to do.

K+DCAN cables don't work with F series if you want to program, etc.

If he states exactly what he wants to do and on which chassis, we can recommend a tool.

I bought two years ago this tool D-CAN DCAN D CAN Interface for GT1 and INPA.

I hate it, it's Virtual machine. It's toooooooooooo slow for work. Can't writte, only diagnosis. always appear any error. Only for diagnose can wait 10 - 15 minutes. And paid 300$

If you want to diagnose and program/code all models, including the F-series cars. You need to purchase an ICOM head with ISIS Server.

It's the only tool that will handle all models and all functions.
