Dear friends,

I am working on a 2000 VW Beetle 1.8t, trying to program a key. Using SBB, the pin code I get does not work. Using Vag-Tacho, the pin code works and I program the key, but every 2 days or so the car forgets the key, and I have to program it again.

Can I do an Immo-off on this car? If so, what chip do I need to read, and in what module?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The key is new from the VW dealer.

It had a few codes but I didn't write them down before clearing them, mostly communication problems, one for ECM disabled, and then failure to communicate with airbag unit. Seems like everytime it forgets the key, it also throws the airbag communication error. I can reset it, but eventually it comes back.

This car has been the hugest pain in the butt of any car we have ever repaired. Vehicle overheated, which melted the plastic water pump, which messed up the cylinder head, and also melted one piston. We rebuilt the entire engine (new pistons, rod bearing, valves), and then realized after we installed everything that the machine shop forgot to put one part in the head. Had to remove the head again, and then when everything with the engine was done, we started it up, then the oil light started flashing. While trying to find out why the oil light is coming on, the car forgets the key, and the airbag light keeps turning on ....

I'd rather just do the immo off and focus on fixing the many other problems the car has :)

I'll pull the ECU on Monday and read the chip and hopefully you guys can help me!

is a common mistake on board. immo off and although you do always have another headache different.

My friend, I see you are from Spain, do you speak Spanish? If so, would you be so kind to PM me with your instructions in Spanish so I can be clear?
