Following on from final testing, Freesat have today confirmed that ITV Player is now available on channel 903 (still in beta) for Humax receivers, with the rest to follow over the coming months.

The announcement made by Freesat is as follows:

Freesat today made it even easier for customers to take control of their TV viewing as it announced the arrival of ITV Player on its subscription-free TV service.

The only TV service to offer both ITV Player and BBC iPlayer, Freesat?s viewers can now catch-up on all of their favourite ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 programmes, up to seven days after broadcast.

With over 100 hours of programmes each week, viewers can choose from popular soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale, to prime-time drama and the nation?s most popular entertainment show The X Factor.

Freesat Managing Director Emma Scott said;
"The launch of ITV Player on Freesat is another important landmark for us. It?s fantastic that we can now offer viewers the two biggest catch-up TV services, direct to their TVs.
This is a further example of innovation that focuses on adding value to the viewer ? making it easier to find and enjoy the TV they love, for free. Whether it be catching up on the events in Weatherfield or following the Rugby World Cup, Freesat customers can now enjoy the best of ITV schedules, whenever they want."
Robin Pembrooke, Managing Director, ITV Online and On Demand said;
"Freesat is a key part of our platform strategy and another important step in our mission to give audiences access to our content when and where they choose to view it whilst improving the underlying technology and user experience across the board."
ITV Player can be found on channel 903 on the Freesat EPG, and will automatically be added via customers? TVs or digital boxes.

The launch of ITV Player on Freesat will initially be in beta, and viewers wishing to access the service will need a Humax Freesat HD or Humax Freesat+ digital box connected to a satellite dish and to a broadband service of at least 2 Mbps.

Freesat?s website freesat - Subscription free HD Satellite TV through a Digital Box (http://www.freesat.co.uk) has detailed instructions and a help video on how to get started.

ITV Player will become available to other Freesat HD digital boxes and Freesat HD TVs over the coming months.

A chap in Dublin said he had it working without a VPN - seems as though ITV are yet to geolock it so give it a go.
