Hello Friends, I am about setting up a new and very standard workshop, I need your inputs on what you think is essential, the workshop will have 3 sections, Repairs$Diagnostics, Wheel Alignment&balancing, then AC repairs&and servicing. every input and advice on equipments needed and possible links of where to get them will be appreciated. Thank you

when you say Repairs \ Diagnostics, does the repairs include say for example changing a clutch or engine on a messy old diesel van in the same area as plugging into a vag vehicle with light coloured trimand checking measuring blocks for say central locking, as for what you need the basics 1st, ramp, compressor, tools, ac machine, then diagnostics equipment, so about ?50.000 + and even after spending that you will get one in that you cant get coms with and have to spend more. Unless your going for s\hand, maybe look for workshop thats closing down. For a link on where to get them, that all depends on where you are in the world, if you type into google:
"automotive workshop equipment"
you get About 1,490,000 results, that should keep you busy looking through that lot, good luck

Well first IMPORTANT thing is every bay MUST have a 32" LCD monitor hooked up to DK.
Seem to think your in Emerica rather than Ingland?
With diagnostics, if it's a non start then you find it's nasty, like someting french, you would then need a metal shredder to dispose of the unit

on a serious note...
if your in the uk an MOT bay is a good money earner..
know lots of small MOT bays in my area, that when work gets slow, NOTHING passes without some work :top:
if thats not an option, then try to specialise in 1 area,
Types of vehicle......German, asian etc...
Types of work......servicing, repairs, etc...
you get what i mean...
setting up "new" workshop to cover EVERYTHING is going to be very expensive, and is better to build as you go, after knowing what your market is.

I have to say that if there is an after life No Way would i be a mechanic again.
But if you are going into this type of work it Has to be an MOT station.
So much work is generated from failures and everything is chargeable at a very good rate.

I agree with the riddler SPECIALISE if you could afford all the special tools for all cars, you would not need to work anyway.
