Hi m8.
Don't know about the incal downloader program but you can download and save a calibration from an ecm using cummins calterm. To do this open calterm, connect to the ecm and once connected select the upload tab under the calibration tab and just follow the on screen instructions.
Hope this helps you m8.

I know a way to download any calibrations, but you must have a qsol account

https://quickserve.cummins.com/qs2/portal/service/calibration_downloads/calibration_download_form.html

1.- Enter to the site
2.- Put the ESN that you want to calibrate
3.- Press download
4.- Copy the .rar files into workplace calibration of Intelect folder
5.- Open insite and go to calibrations
6.- Search the calibration list that you copy recently
7.- You must select the calibration that you want and look for ECM Code
8.- Go to the site that's above the post and put ESN and ECM Code in this time
9.- You have downloaded the calibration :)

To upload from and ECM
1 Connect to your ECM with calterm
2 Click on Calibration in the menu bar and then click upload
3 Select your save lovation and a name for your calibration file
4 Key off if requested, wait

To download to an ECM
1 best to use the same e2m you used to upload the file, only download to the same part number ECM.
2 Connect to your ECM
3 Click on Calibration in the menu bar and then click download
Select your calibration file, follow the instructions on screen

Once you have saved the calibration, you can view and edit by selecting connect to calibration instead of connect to module, use the same e2m/ecfg as you used to upload the calibration.

We have a brand new CM2250 ECM that we want to work with on the bench. We have hooked up DDEC-IV successfully and read reprogramed them etc.

Tried Hooking up the Battery and key on with the J1939 +/_ with ground to read the ecm and get nothing. When we read the pins on the ecm that are suppose to have 5 volts, they do, so we know it is getting power. We ar using a cable from the 9 pin end of the cummins quickcheck, and the Nexiq interphase etc. Ideas or suggestions are really welcome here. Also, we have the calibration disk that came with it ...OCT 2011. Also have Insite ALL and calterm etc...

Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas to all.

Thanks JCTECH.

I can now upload (from the ECM to the computer) the file, and if I wanted to download (Computer to ECM) I'm sure I could do that also.

By the way, this is on the brand new ISX 15L CM2250, ECM code is CL10038.06 serial number of the engine is 79425905, just in case you happen to have that calibration in a file that could be uploaded. The file I save still needs a module to re-upload....hoping that is what I am asking for.

Newest challenge...changing any value in the calibration?
I click on it in say screen "0" and can change it there, but when I hit enter, the value reverts back and declares an error in the lower info screen.

What do I need to do differently...Thanks in advance...making progress!

go to unlock, change the security of the module to unsecured.
close unlock and reconnect
change run location to "run from dev"
change the parameters and save
change run location to run from "def"
check your parameters, if OK secure the module again

Gave it a try, but came upon some obstacles;

I will try and post screen shots to show.

The Unlock would not allow its' status to be changed.

I couldn't locate some of the other "run to dev".

Thanks again for your patience and help.

By the way, the version is 3.41 "Crab"

The ECM hooks up fine, and has been able to change things in Insite 7.4

Happy new year, and thanks for the response. Here is what the security level shows;

Calterm III Version: Crab v3.4.1.003
Serial Number: 372949372
Update Number: 2
Calterm III type: Engineering
Expiration Date: 01/01/0001

also, it shows all products. The only thing that may be a problem is the expiration date....Thoughts?

Thanks for the info....I thought that might be the problem. ANy chance any DK'er have the proper file? The only one close to the ISX file is this one for a 2007 ISX with aftertreatment. The newer systems don't use the fuel shut off and fuel drain valves with a doser. The regen is controlled by modulating the injectors, egr, and vgt turbo to give the catalyst the proper Nox mixture to start the chemical reaction. The urea systems are even more complicated.

Do the files have to be exact for the ECM or can they be "close"?

Thanks again for all of the help and input. Learning is great with help like this!I have been able to get it to work on an ISM ECM by using the Editor, finding the file set edit the value, hit enter. When it turns yellow right click, on it and get the address and more info on it, then sending it to the ECM. Then checking with insite to see if it worked. Some files just won't change. It will be a hit and miss try. Good luck.

I too run all of it on one computer...actual on a Mac running Bootcamp. The only thing I do to confirm no interaction between programs is to change the default directory....ie instead of Calterm III, I make the directory Calterm 3.41. That keeps the files separate.

I don't know if I should post here or somewhere else on DK, so If the wrong area, sorry...

The New Cummins ECM CM2250 has a serious problem. We found it on about 12 trucks so far. The milage on the ECM, pulled with Insight and any other tool, shows 102,800 miles, while the odometer shows 100,000 miles. It seems to be on any truck over 100,000 miles before the skewing of the milage takes place...that could have major implications on truck resale value if the numbers don't match....someone would think the odometer was played with...so beware. :manuflag:

If anyone has input, I would love to hear...thanks.

You have to read the calibration update information for the reason the file/ calibration was updated. I really don't remember. If it was a ISL9 CM2250 or ISL. That was most likely the place i read it. PM jctech he will know most likely for sure.

Yes, Thanks. Was able to use one of the files and download the calibration from the engines.....also able to CHANGE the settings, which was the whole purpose.

After I downloaded the calibration, I am looking to find it (haven't found the separate file yet) and share here.

AS a side note:...these six engines we just did were brand new, and the calibration in them was NOT optimized at all!! This is straight from the factory....very disappointing. SO anyone out there that wants to learn how to work with these tools, and take the time to make small adjustments, then test, then make another adjustment (you get the picture), you have a better chance of optimizing your engine....the factory is OBVIOUSLY not trying to get the very best out of the engines, or, there are some other limitations not mentioned here.

BD sends the calibration in their "tool" which needs to be loaded into the trucks ECM. IT IS VERY SPECIFIC for the type of engine that it will work on. At the time, we had an ISX 400 in the testing facility, so we ordered the BD for that truck. We can't simply "pull" the calibration out of their "Tool", we have to upload it into that specific ECM and then take Calterm and download the modified calibration.

Hope that better explains it.

I understood that the bullydog/smarty/edge type of tool did not modify the cal in the ECM, rather it sent "false/modified" signals to the ECM, and modified signals sent from the ECM.
Or am i wrong.............

Hope that better explains it.

ya understood,,,,but no that at the biginning of bully dog programmer calibration from cummins, detroit or caterpilar,,,bully dog has put here calibration on a server for about i think 1 year,,,and some people have take it freely and this is what im trying to find in post ,,,,for sure a dkerman have this!!!!!!

I understood that the bullydog/smarty/edge type of tool did not modify the cal in the ECM, rather it sent "false/modified" signals to the ECM, and modified signals sent from the ECM.
Or am i wrong.............

No bully dog really modify calibration in the ecm with another tool named bdm serial programmer and they put them into her programmer and lock the calibration just for one truck,,,,and it shown no trave in audit trail,,,,and if we plugued calterm we see that fuel map is modify,,,,also to,,, they play with the egr parameter to reduce egr cycling ,,,but we not see the change with calterm,,,,i think that with bdm serail programmer and engineering k-line,,,,they save her change into an another adress into the ecm that calterm not see, ========do the test you will see,,,, i can send you a calibration,,,,

yesss all right , they read from internal memory or component thats called intermediat flash in some labs, that allow to modify like JC tech say not calibration file just some signals or a part of cal file ,is that the reason we cant see any change in calterm or insite , in cat is the sence of the files they put and upgrade are not readable with a normal tool . I dont think Bdm but some tool like that.

I know a way to download any calibrations, but you must have a qsol account

https://quickserve.cummins.com/qs2/portal/service/calibration_downloads/calibration_download_form.html

1.- Enter to the site
2.- Put the ESN that you want to calibrate
3.- Press download
4.- Copy the .rar files into workplace calibration of Intelect folder
5.- Open insite and go to calibrations
6.- Search the calibration list that you copy recently
7.- You must select the calibration that you want and look for ECM Code
8.- Go to the site that's above the post and put ESN and ECM Code in this time
9.- You have downloaded the calibration :)

Not possible without legal id and pass.

Check the zds and. Jc tech post, they upload a lot of service manuals in dk

And
About quick serve of cummins only for dealers.

If an engine has a CM870 ISX 400HP and torque calibration at 1450 lb * ft ..... complications that may have sent the engine if a calibration with different CPL torque of 500 HP with 1850?

thanks for reading the post

thanks for reading the postPossiably. Might loose the speedometer calibration if run with J1939.. The CPL might change from an upgrade like changing critical parts to an upgrade. EGR, DPF, Injectors. Changing the HP is not going to help the truck gear train. It was designed for the 400HP.

You would need calterm with proper license, corresponding e2m or ecfg file and you will be good to go...
