Hello
Seems that I am Having a French Month.Got this clio 2 16v come in the other day for a diagnostic-running badly.Picked up a map sensor error. o2 sensor, accelerator pedal position sensor.Told cust I will order map sensor and move on from there. Now the story gets interesting.

While waiting for the sensor to arrive we were driving the car in and out of the shop. The other morning it refused to start.Checked relays near the battery they are fine(we even bridged the wiring to make sure)Checked for injector pulse at injector no pulse!! but there is spark.I reckon immo fault Hooked diagnostics up ECU is receiving immo deactivation from immo unit:hmmmm:.Checed for fault codes the system wont allow me to read fault codes but I can see actual values WHAT!!.I said fine but heres the kicker. If I spray a little quick start the car starts up and runs finebut there is no accelerator.

Cust says (SHE) brought the vehicle with accelerator working and should start on the turn.I know that cause we had the vehicle for a few days and it should start up Fine just some hesitance when on the road.

At a total loss any help will be appreciated

Remove security lock on engine control unit plug and check for damaged wires under it.
Other thing - unplug both plugs from Engine control unit and check pins on ECU with magnifying glass. Have seen burned pins.
There was a thread about the same car. Can't remember now who made it and should be more tips about your problem.
By the way.....i don't think that new MAP sensor will sort out problem.
Cheers!

*THINK* you have what we had, the puddy cat was blocked, would idle, but like my dreams, fade and die, if you gave it an extra large for 30p

Get a Sthil saw and remove the puddy cat, VERY easy.

But still leave the new map sensor in, as possable over fuel and curisity killed the cat

any air hoses cracked leaking?non starting those crankshaft sensors give a lot of non starting issues some with no fault codes.

Hi
The codes indicate the wiring loom around the top of the engine ending up in the left ecu plug when viewed from front

Before swaping you may want to put a jump lead to the block from bat neg
Check the supplies to the right hand plug
Last option duff ecu

Hi

Last option duff ecu

What we do to make an ecu duff is to connect case to battery negative on another car, then use one of the ht leads across the wiring plug, run the car up, this normally makes an ecu duff.

Hello Guys,
I unplugged the ecu and noticed like a jelly substance on the ecu and harness as well as a bit of green corrosion.I ASSUMED problem solved.I got out the spray can put is some petrol and 'hosed' the ecu plus harness.Blew out the ecu and harness.Put in some contact cleaner and reconnected.

STill the same. The pins on the harness still have this silicone jell on them,What Can I use to completely remove it.

Many Thanks

if the silicone was sealed inside and now leaking sounds as if it maybe kak or soon will be.

TDC Sensor. Had one that wasn't throwing fault codes, bought a replacement (with new style connector and wiring in the kit)
Problem solved.

Desperate, so I bought a new tdc sensor and still nothing @#$@%

Hi
What is the immo light doing?
Turn ign on wait a few secs Does it crank?
If both yes then get wiring diagram and check all the earths are good at ecu left plug
Check pos supply on right plug
Check white block connector in bottom of fuse box near bat
Check braided earth straps and engine block earths
At all stages keep deleting any fault codes you generate
Last look at engine short loom left from ecu assuming its the ecu bolted to engine

ALbertros

Immo light goes off
Engine swings
Got a wiring diagram and checked all earths, ignition, positive, positive from main relay.
White block connector to battery OK
Earth OK

I have access to the actual value table in diagnostics but it 'kicks me out' when I try to read error memory.

HI,
compair battery volts to volts at ecu ( I use clip ) if different suspect ecu

Ie bat volts 12.25
volts at ecu 13.9

What are you using too diagnose? Clip?
Fueling OK?
Have you tried diagnosing with the engine running (with quick start)?
Are you hearing the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition?

paint stripper, alloy wheel cleaner, Semtex
I knew that is the most necessary thing for this fault!!!!
Bloody little things!!!
In my opinion there is no easy answer. You should be able use multimeter and oscilloscope.
Got one of these in past....was writing error about MAP sensor, intermittent rough running.....put new MAP sensor on it - no changes. Checked wires on ECU - OK. Removed intake manifold - couldn't see anything. Put it back - car was running for next month and then came back with the same fault.
Finally turned out wiring fault. Connection problems on the ECU plugs. Just under magnifying glass i found burned pins on ECU.
This foooing story was about half of year long!!! Customer was told get rid of that nice thing, but he still driving it.
Cheers!

Using bosch kts to diagnose.
When ignition switched pump energizes +- 1sec
It no more starts with quick start.
There is no coil signal from ecu to the coil now!!!

Seems too me, you need too find someone with a Clip, otherwise you'll be chasing ghosts. Comes free with French cars. Check you're Fuses 1 more time, perhaps 1 is blown.
Renault likes too connect different things over 1 and the same fuse.

Pump is working, but now you don't have spark.:shot:

Faulty wiring? Duff ECU?

did you fix this one

Must have used too much SEMTEX for the jump start.

Can't hear you Meaty.
