no need to remove needle the whole motor and dialcard pull out of their sockets, should be c56 dill eeprom..

if no eeprom then it is hc05 processor ....a bit more difficult to tackle if you dont have the experience..

good luck..

Look like accord V6... Need to read motorola HC05...

I agree,

this is not a C56 or C46.

All V6 accord have motorola inside.

No need to take needles off Pry out the board from the white housing if you want...

Hard to read unless you do it with USAPROG -CLUSTER PLUG-

Good luck.

Actually it's really easy to read this particular mcu. U don't need lift any pins unlike 98-99 model. Of course u have to use proper tool. I heard an rumor about problems with UPA and those kind of chips. I have UPA, but i never tried it on those. I always use CARPROG. Job is done in same time as an ordinary eeprom onboard.
cheers

This came off a V4. Can I go ahead and read it with my xprog onboard without having to short the crystal?

mojomojo

Also who makes these epproms bc I need to pick it on my xprog? (ie at93c56, fm93c56?)

ok there is no V4 anywhere.. it's either straight 4 or V6..
... bottom line is.. THERE IS NO 93C56 EEPROM !

That is the one sir.

Remember: from 98-02 Accord 4 Cyl is 93c46 or 93c56.
6 Cyl is always micro

Mate they are sending you around in circles here, refer back to my posts 2 and 6,
you have a 93C56 Dil chip here. 100%
Here is a picture of the chip from the other side of the board, if your not sure just lift the board slightly, shine a torch in and you will see the Dil chip.

This is the other side. Not yours. Your picture is from
different cluster.

see the different of the gauges pins. your pic is a male pins &
the other is a female. see the arrows marking, completely off.

I tried cmm but didnt work. I have usa prog, digimile. I think cmm works for the dashes that need 93c56 read and not the hc05.

Anyhow... Since this is the hc05, Has anyone tried reading with UPA? I cant seem to get it to work. Also, I tried Digimaster II but that didnt work either... I cannot read this for some reason.

I've lifted pins but now going to lay them all down and try again....

Also, anyone try this with digimaster II (digimaster2, dm2, dmII, digimaster 2)? I cant get it to do anything....

Can you give me a little more help? I can't determine which would be the Receive or Transmit pins.... What about Reset? and Interrupt? Lift either? Both? Or, since youre only connecting the four, leave them down? Not sure how this will work, but I'm willing to give it a go....

Oh, and, I have never been able to read any mcu onboard with upa... But, to remove this mcu is going to be hard....

Another thing... the crystal on this board has three legs and no freq markings... If I remove the mcu and i use this crystal, do i short one of the legs? What freq if I use another crystal?

argh.

RX is #8 (P2 on UPA) and TX is #10 (P3)
Don't lift anything..
I'm wondering, if that will work.

I am curious also. It would be crazy if all that is needed are those four lines. IMAGINE! I've been trying to do all these other leads but I only needed four? argh.

Will update in about 12 hours (when I get back in shop). I have two of these clusters right now.... If this works, it would be great!

Just have an older (98) (52pins) HC05 on the bench and tried it with UPA as digimile suggested. Just four wires, externally powered up the UPA and it goes on first shot. Usually using carprog and have to lift VSS (on those 52pin chip) and connect nine wires... Thanks digimile!
Well next time will try carprog with those four wires... Let U know :)

No joy. I tried externally powering pcb also--same result.
This is what I have wired up:
P2 to pin10
P3 to pin8
P5 to pin58
P9 to pin20

Maybe I have something wrong?

I still have the 01-02 V6.... If you have suggestions, I'm willing to try. Also have an '00 (or '99?) V6 cluster with the 52-pin. I want to be able to read onboard with these... DMII wiring is complicated any way I look at it.

Thanks ledojo! Nice to hear that!!

So i have another 52 pin chip on my bench and read it with carprog, using just these four wires.. As digimile suggested.
It works just fine! So both devices (carprog and UPA) can use those connections.. Good to know. Thanks again digimile :o)
