Driveablity issues are more likely due to mechanical or electronic/electrical faults rather than ecu software.

If the ECU has set any faults there would be a warning on the dash display (Spanner light or STOP or Engine Check symbol)

Don't know about software flashing by third party software in present times but reprogramming of vauxhalls has, I think, been in the dealer domain only.

OPCOM (search ebay) is a useful aftermarket scan tool for vauxhalls and is capable of many things including reading and deleting stored codes. The program and interface is available as a genuine item (expensive) or as a clone which is alot cheaper.

Don't know what the dealer device is at the moment but the Tech2 was the dealer tool capable of software updating from a subscribed vauxhall secure website.

You would most likely get a larger response if you give more details of your vehicle e.g. engine type, cc etc. and what steps have been taken to resolve your issue.
