I am having trouble as usual!

I got my xbox and opened her up . Its never been modded before.

Its a liteon drive (unlucky me) date AUG 2009 says f/w 83850c as I expected so thought I would be ok to flash through the SATA cable no extra hardware needed.

I got jungle flash as it seems to be the way to go. I updated the xbox via xbox live as it states to do so in the instructions that came with jungle flash.

I connected everything up SATA cable etc but jungle flash is finding f/w 02510c so I gather that the xbox update has given my dvd drive this firmware? if so why did Jungle ask me to the update?

I have tried searching for advice on modding the xbox with this firm ware revision and have come to a standstill.

I have no probes as was hoping it could be done via pc only but if I need a probe I will buy one. I have found one for a fiver it states its been tested on 78450c but not the 02510 does this mean it will work with my 02510 or not? I am confused.

Please help, I could do with knowing what probe and what method will work with my firmware.

The xbox update do flash your drive to the 0251 fw. This is to have the new disc format support (xdg3) . So to dump the key either the PMT method (probe v3) or the MRA hack will be needed. You can flash from normal sata but its the key retrieval that's the issue. Do you have a ck3 to power the drive?

All info was in the sticky you needed

These Drives are FLASHED by Update 2.0.13146.0. New revision for this Dashboard Version and Above Is 02251 If you are on Dashboard Version Below 2.0.13146.0. then please either update or use LT1.1 for correct drive & revision

I don't have the CK3 as I was going to use the XBOX power supply, but if you recommend I need one then I will buy one, I was just trying to keep the cost down.

I take it from your response that I could still flash using SATA but I would be stuck if anything was to go wrong as I wouldn't have my dump?

So what's the most reliable/easiest option from the two you suggest for the whole process? If you have a link to the equipment and guide for the way you think is best for me it would be handy and greatly appreciate.

Easiest option. This would be get a ck3 lite along with a probe v3. The ck3 will power the probe but also make it easier to power cycle the drive when needed.

Via pci sata cards are most compatable with xbox drives so maybe one of them as your trying to keep costs down. This is cheaper than a usbpro
