why is gambling so popular?
usually if you put your chip down on 7 on the roulette, it aint gonna land on 7....
the odds are computed to make the bookie money...
So why do people bother?
I do enjoy a flutter myself when I go to the races, a crowd of us usually go to a few meetings throughout the year and enjoy a little gamble and if I lose its part of the day which I enjoy but if I win its a bonus.

Because sometimes you can walk away from the casino several hundred pounds up! Granted, not often.

Not only that, it is a good night out at the casino, I dont go as often as I used to, but it is a good laugh.

Dont forget you are not only putting a pound on 7, you will be covering several numbers

the last time i went to vegas roulette was the only thing i did win on and it was on lucky 7 keep backing until it hits by slightly upping the stake now and again so when it does land right you win and often it will hit again within the next few spins, whereas i got shafted on the river card twice playing hold'em both decent pots as well so i've hardly played since. trick is to never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

I do not know about horses but casino roulettes are fixed numbers by experts.

I personally thought casino would have been a lucky game but it?s not.

They may let you win if they wanted to; it?s a matter of choice.

You may not believe me but luck does not take part in casino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I go to the casino every week. Don't gamble, it's just somewhere quiet to socialise.

A friends business partner has a gambling problem, probably won't be a business partner for much longer. But I've seen how he can win on the roulette.

The short story is that he covers about half the numbers with enough to cover his total bet for that spin.
On something over a quarter of the board he puts heavier bets down to ensure a good win.
Then he will leave about 8 numbers with no coverage.

It's all about playing the odds. He's basically betting that none of the 8 uncovered numbers will win. Taking he's right he will either have covered his bet of won quiet a lot of money.

His problem is that he doesn't know when to stop. It only takes a couple of bad spins to land you with empty pockets.

Then again I've seen him come out a few thousand pounds up. Not that he can spend it as his wife thinks he's given up gambling. She controls the bank accounts & knows every penny that comes in & goes out.
So he just gambles with it...usually losing.

I bet on the horses...but I usually just go for the names I like :)

and it's not very often.

Must be scary having a gambling addiction though, if it was big bucks you're winning/losing.

Gambling becomes addictive for some when they start chasing your loses.

Gambling is an industry were Govt take enormous tax revenue every day.

I wish all gambling in UK will be banned in the next election?????

I appriciate what you're saying, but people know the risks when gambling.

Some people work hard for their money and spend all their free time in the bookies, casinos, racecourses, not because they're addicted but because they enjoy it, the same way people who aren't alcoholics can spend all their time in the pub, socialising aspects.

People know their boundaries, and if they don't, they know there is the possibility of becomming addicted the same way as smoking/alcohol.

I do think that there should be more money put into awareness for gambling addictions, though.

the thing about gambling is every now and again you get a nice payback whereas people who waste money every day/week smoking and drinking never get their money back.

i love a 20 quid five team accumulater on a saturday- For me its not put on to win just for the enjoyment of the bet and watching the scores on soccer saturday. Got one up last week and got back 133 for my 20.

I gamble quite a bit. I never gamble what I can't afford to lose.
I only ever do single bets and occasionally a double as accumulators is what bookies love to see punters doing.

Overall the bookie will win hands down. Most people will only tell u when they win- they forget to mention the numerous bets they lost.

This is the worse side of gambling addicts????..

I have seen gamblers lost every thing they have build over there?s entire life.

Losing your wife and children?s are the last thing you want in life, and when you are a regular gambler you rarely see your wife and children.

I think there is a huge difference between buying a ticket for the lottery and betting in a casino or on a horse (not that I do it too often)

There is something exciting about the last two .... whereas the lottery is just a case of ....check the numbers ..... didn't win ....try again next week, I think it lacks the thrill of real 'gambling'.

I think its the odds hoggy with the casino or horses you really do have a chance of a win and a fighting chance it is too- But the lottery its 14 million to one.

If they did that you'll see a lot of illegal back room casinos opening up. All within shouting distance of the local chinese takeaways.
Would probably see quite a few leave the country as well. The chinese love to gamble.

Try going to the casino on a tuesday night... Nothing but 'love you long time'

That?s why we have law and order

There are no casinos in Saudi Arabia and most African countries why can?t we close them, they have ruined life of many citizens.

I think you'll find loads of back room casinos in parts of Africa. Illegal or not, organized crime has always found a way to give people what they want.

Keeping it legal stops the dodgy back room shite from becoming a problem.

are you saying roullette is fixed?

if so that is utter nonsense,

roulette is random with the odds stacked slightly against you.

they wont outlaw gambling why should the minority who cant control themselves spoil it for the millions of people that enjoy a gamble every day/week/year responsibly there are far bigger problems in society than gamblimng, you never hear of burglers or muggers stealing to fund their gambling habit! if you dont like gambling its just tough as its getting bigger and more popular if anything.

I could not believe it as you have asked in open forum I will answer that it is fixed....................

My neighbour about nine years ago used to go to casino every day, and one day he came round to my house and told me to take him to casino, I later found out he lost his driving licence on drink drive.

To cut the storey short, this man used to play every table outside from 1-18 and second dozens, and I never saw him playing third dozens in any casino for the past three years.

He was a regular player in a casino which was closed nine years ago, but what I saw that last day of the game was deferent.

There were 5 tables and he started playing all the tables at a time, because he was able to play outside from 1-18 he could cover most table, he started playing from 9.00pm until he ran out of money at 2.00am losing ?4000 not one table came up with the number 1-18.

When he went to get more money from cash machine all the table started coming numbers 1-18, as soon as he started playing again all the high numbers started coming again and it was early closing 9 years ago 4.00am

He must have lost over?6000 that night and I do not think that was a bad luck.

I've seen consecutive red for 18 spins. Also seen 22 spin up three times in a row... then twice more within 5 spins.

That doesn't mean it was fixed. If it was then my friend did it as he always covers 22.

A good croupier can pick a quarter of the wheel & most times hit within that quarter. That's the closest you'll get to 'fixing' a roulette table in licensed casinos.

Think you've been watching too many gangster films.

yes , i am afraid it is bad luck....
each spin is independant from the last spin,
so long periods when any givin numbers dont comeup is inevitable.
i am speaking from experience as i have worked in casino's in the past.

like canker said,
long periods of all reds or all blacks is a normal occurance.

your chance of picking correct number on roulette (uk tables ) is 37/1.
whereas the casino will payout 36/1 on correct number.
this works out at average percentage payout of 97% roughly, but it is random.

each spin of the wheel is independant of previous spins,
this means if you play long enough then you will always eventually loose everything.

uk casinos are heavily regulated, cheating doesn't happen...

I have a 50p bet on the fixed odds on the footy on a saturday and I even let my 12 year old boy pick teams and results on his own line -- it adds to the excitement on a saturday with teh footy.. We never win though, but its always good fun.

A bet on the Lottery every week - that is gambling as well - lets not forget that.

The House always wins in the casino. The only time that there is any skill in a casino game is Poker - that is where you are leveraging your bet and odds that you could of or should of worked out, and trying to lose as little as possible and win as much as you can. But the house wins coz you pay a fee regardless...... But you are in control of it.

Now gambling becomes more and more popular, as people got more free time! As for my preferences, I like playing casino games, especially online poker. This game requires not only luck, but it also makes people think a lot and bluff. Recently I found, where I can play poker for money, get profitable bonuses, and be sure I can always withdraw my winnings, as I have done it a few times. I really like this casino and highly recommend it to every player!
