For those that use sky and bt, O2 etc and have no newsgroup server because they don't support it.
There is an option to be able to use Newsgroups
http://www.xsusenet.com/en/#1This will give you access for free, its not the quickest and has only 2 connections allowed, but at least its free.
For those who are on VM accounts you can use the built in one that already exists ie: news.virginmedia.com
For those that want more retention than VM supply look here for paid options.
