I have a friend with 2005 nissan almera, intermitant key not recognised, same with unused spare, so key is not at fault.
Anyone know Where is immo box located? Around ign?

It's a common failure from Nissan Almera. The problem is caused by a bad wiring loom + no/bad GND (check it as well). Hope it helps. P.S. according to AutoData it should be next to ignition switch

Hi mate,
Nissan part no: 24168-BNOCA. Thats the wiring loom from the immo ring around the ignition to the SEC module. It'll set you back around ?30 from a dealer.
Replace that and its job done.

Strange, with them being such a common fault. Heres a pic of the part label on the bag.

I even spoke with a nissan master tech, and he said not heard of this being a fault!, but then after 3 years old, who would want to take one to the stealers?
ANyway, I removed cowling and unplgged/re plugged immo plug and now all works fine, so now I just await the phone call..................

Nissan techs here refer to it as a NATS loom. Maybe that'd jog their memory. Or print this off and show them their own service bulletin :D

Yes, agree with this one, *THINK* it was in one of Z786 MANY unfinished threads about this loom.
Also almera, last one, basically, we put the front bumper, round out toetruck, RIPPED it off, broken wire, rejoined, superglued and cable tied bumper on, charged 7 hours, customer happy,
OFf TOPIC:-
Oh that 'file' you emailed, is 'no use' as is.
Would be intreasted to know what (another) computer says when you plug usb in?
Thanks

OFF TOPIC:-
Don't think there is any rules about using threads as a form of PM.
Just that interface, looks just like a standard usb frying pan
So when you plug it into the usb what does it say
If you answer do it in PM incase Mr Kenwood is reading this
"New USB device found"
"Kenwood USB Frying Pan"
Then guess it says 'new serial port' as well.
Thanks
