Hi,
Any ideas as to the best method of cleaning out the dust and general crap inside a pc tower.
I have a compressor to blow it out with. Would this be a good idea? or would it completely bolocks the machine.
Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.
Best regards

Hello,
A hoover in down aspiration, but take care of ventilator specialy the smallers.
And if your really want to clean very well electronical you can use specific solvant cleaner for electronical part who evaporate quickly. This is the must !

Just my 2 cents when I took my A+ certification when using a normal home hoover (vacuum) not specified for electronic use it will create static electricity so take caution. I think best is compressed air bought from a store and you may want to go outside because it will make the dust fly. I have used a hoover (vacuum) to catch the dust as you spray but I would not touch components (motherboard) with it. I like the paintbrush idea I bet that works well for caked on dust. Will have to try it next time.

Can of air from asda ?3 and a small paint brush is all you need. A hoover should not be used due to static

Cans of compressed air are best. though one thing with them you need to watch out for is just like a compressor there is chance of liquid being shot out as the air cans rapidly lose heat as they are used. So condensation builds up in side.
Vacuum cleaners are never a good idea as cunny stated since they can build static and if it discharges on the part of the motherboard, you can kiss it good bye. Though there are small vacuum cleaners that are designed for use with computers, but they are pretty expensive when I bought mine.
