This Thread (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f32/blu-ray-divx-player-22292/) has a link to a site whre you can get media players / recorder that play almost anything including MKV also has a price list of the media centre I'm looking at..
If you buy a play that doesn't support MKV / H.264 you may aswell give me ur money so I can get the one I wanf for myself, that way I'll be happy and you won't be pulling out ur hair when you realize .MKV files can be dloaded from torrent sites and contain v high quality video torrentleech has many of these files!!!
Also get a networkable mediaplayer wireless preferably!!!

Hope this helps

Philips DVP5990/05 - HDMI 1080p DivX Ultra DVD Player: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Not quite a media center I know but.....plays all Divx/Xvid etc etc, has a USB 2 input in the front to connect your hard drive (save you converting all your films) or a usb stick. Just had mine delivered, picture quality via HDMI is outstanding, upscales it to 1080P !!
Does not playback H.264 though, no real biggie for me though, if it's something cheap and cheerfull you are looking for then get one of these, custom firmware is also available aswell.
Shop around I got mine for ?63 incl delivery from Amazon, might be cheaper elsewhere though.

and getting back to the orignal question, multi media players stick with popcorn, if uncertain ask google an am sure there several others that will back me up on it.

Popcorn Hour, google it. It plays every format that you can throw at it. Ive had one a while now and love it. You can also install a liitle program on it to turn it into a film jukebox which is really impressive.:)

Recommend a Freecom 450 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Freecom-Network-Media-Player-450-Wireless-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ230328187364QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Col lectables_HardDriveEnclosures_RL?hash=item23032818 7364&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318). You can get a brand new one on fleabay for under ?100 or about 150-ish from PC World/etc.

Does all that you want a media player to do AND adds HDMi/Wi-fi connectivity as well to it. Drop your media files from your armchair onto the player and voila... bob's your uncle!
