So I am doing an engine swap in my Jeep Cherokee (Liberty is US) from Petrol to the 2.8 CRD Diesel.
Since it doesn't seem that anyone has an easy IMMO off solution...
My understanding of the IMMO aka SKIM or SKIS system (seperate security module) is that the SKIS module reads the VIN # from the ECU (PCM in Jeep speak) and also the 4 digit SKIS code to verify that all is good, and then looks for the transponder chip in the key before starting.
So in theory I could just have the VIN# and SKIS changed in the ECU to match my current Jeep's VIN and SKIS #.
Has anyone tried this or does this make sense?
Jusr doing a reality check
