hey peeps, just got my dm800se today,
the default image on the dm800se is the allrussian image, i thought before i flash another image on the box i'll just try and scan some channels to see if all is ok.
btw before i disconnected the dm500s i had 95%snr and 90%agc on bbc world news 0.8w thor.
anyways i've sent over catseyes via dreamboxedit,
i have the sat facing thor 0.8w,
i went onto the channel bbc world news,
and im getting this message
'service unable check tuner configuration!'
i have followed this tutorial
http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f39/guide-setting-up-non-usals-dm800-143072/
i've done stage 1 of the above tutorial,
i've made sure its on thor 0.8w diseqc 1.2, lnb1 and lof as univeral lnb,
under advanced settings,
but on stage two in the allrussian image im going to
setup/service searching/satfinder but cant seem to lock.
its a bit odd,
one min it showed at 100% but didnt lock,
the next min it went to 0%, wtf
i just flashed the box with openpli and then with dream elite,
i've sent over catseyes,
but when i go on to the channels for example im on thor 0.8w,
so when i go on to bbc world news it says 'tune fail'
any ideas guys?
could do with some help please

Was your other box set up using Diseqc or Usals ? I would try setting up using Usals first just enter your lat and long and give that go first m8 :)
EDIT: you already answered before i posted ;) Under tuner configuration choose simple\positioner\ then add your lat and long save then come out and choose the satellite you want to go to

so just to clarify,
after i input lat/long details in simple positioner,
and so long as i have catseyes on,
i just go to sat and press whatever channel and it should move over automatically right?

Yep :) see your still up playing lol
you cant rest till its done lol
i just did as you said went on to thor 0.8w,
on channel bbc world news and the channels on and working lol
also went on hotbird 13e and 28.2e and channels are working
tried bbc hd on 28.2 working fine
one thing i noticed i that the snr is lower then what it used to be on my dm500s,
any ideas why bud?
btw usals is so much easier lol
p.s one channel on thor think it was musibox said tune fail but i think that was cause of 4% snr lol

Adjust your Long m8 move up in point 2 and see if it gets better or move down the same ie. Long 2.6 move 2.8 3.0 etc and the same down. your dish could be slightly out and moving your long may help :)

The position needs fine tuning but thats best left for another time I think!

thats that sorted :D lol
just wanted to ask,
am i right in thinking that if i wanted to physically align the dish to get maximum snr, should i do that whilst on thor 0.8w?

If you mean tweaking the long/lat as per bulldogs tip ,I would choose your weakest sat signal

hey peeps,
i just wanted to ask with usals,
is there anyway i could tell the dish to move right or left manually through the reciever like i could with diseqc?
some peeps are getting 7w at the moment with obviously stronger signals,
im based in brum with a 90cm dish so i wanted to give it a go,
but i understand that 7w is more like 7.3w,
so need to nudge the dish a little more west,
hence my question

Put it on 7w then press menu, setup, service searching, positioner setup, positioner fine movement, red or blue to get the best snr then store position, see if that works.

hey bud,
i put it on 7w, moved the motor slightly more west, got a it flicking onto lock at 29%snr,
on some channel called '4shababquran' (just tried the first one i saw),
so i store it, when i get out of the menu and go back on to the channel,
the motor moves it back to 7w, any ideas?

Go into tuner config and take note of your longitude setting then tweak it by .2 + or - increments until you get the snr up again on that channel.

i'll give it a go tomorrow if i get a chance,
but i have already tweaked the longitude to get the best snr for all the satellites which i receive
