Is a VGA to HDMI converter box a waste of money? If you think not, what difference would it actually make if any? I'm talking about using it for LAPTOP to TV THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLIES

Yep, as above, waste of money & would probably be shyte..

If your laptop has PCMCIA slots you could possibly get a pcmcia hdmi card, or if your laptop is powerful enough you could get USB to HDMI adaptor.

Hi,
Its not a waste of money at all...recommend SCAN for all PC stuff.... however you need to make sure that your graphics card is powerful enough to give you HDMI resolution.
I do the same but from my PC to TV.

mattbest doesnt know what he's talking about.. USB to HDMI wont be using the graphics card, it'll be using CPU power..
