I am using the insite to read the parameters on a N14 generator application engine but all parameters are locked. How can I unlock to view or make changes.
The message I see is:" This feature is locked because it is read only and cannot be modified"

I am using Insite Level: Pro

Thanks for any advice

are all the parameters locked or just important ones like the fuel rate... try connecting in Industrial/Power Gen license. I know in truck engines the fuel rate parameter says the same thign because it can not be changed

My Insite pro licence is valid.I tried using the ind/powergen mode which is a lower level and the same probelm.
The only unlocked parameter is "system ID and dataplte"

Thanks

Is the ECM password protected I never worked with Generators but I know all of the parameter are locked on trucks if the ECM is password protected.

This message means that the parameters are locked in the calibration and cannot be changed using Insite.
Calterm can be used to make changes to these parameters.

There are no N14 genset calibrations, is this a set you are building? why do you want to change the parameters?

Yes it was a truck engine which has been converted to Generator application. the ECM was bought from a cummins dealer and It was requested that the Ecm be calibrated for generator.

Now we need to change it from variable govenor to automotive because the ECM is now used on a truck, but this parameter is locked.

Thanks

You need to recalibrate the ECM with an automotive calibration, simply changing the governor type will not be enough, there are a lot of parameters that you will eventually want to change, a recalibration is best.
Use the 6 pin connector on the side of the engine for recalibrating.

I have the insite 7.5 software but no calibration information, please advise what I need to use to recalibrate.
There is no dealer in my country, the next option will be send the ECM to the US which is costly.

You can download the InCal DVD here

Post your engine serial number and I can post the correct (factory) calibration here

The most important thing to be aware of before calibrating, use the 6 pin connector on the engine beside the ECM, make sure all PC virus protection and PC power save options are disabled (screen saver, hibernate etc), make sure truck does not have immobilizer that will power of after a preset time if truck is not started. Make sure all your inline cables are in good condition, any disruption to the transfer process will cause your ECM to go into a Rom Boot state (blank).

Your engine was originally 500 HP with 1650 lb ft torque
This is calibration code C10694
I have include calibrations for 500 with 1750 lb ft torque
This is C10709
and also the calibration for 525 with 1850 lb ft torque
This is C10696

download the rar file to the folder c/intelect/insite/calibrationworkspace
right click the file and "extract here", you should have a folder called Intelect, this contains a folder called esdn, do not modify any of the files or folders.

Open up insite, and click on Calibration Selection, let Insite search your drives for calibrations and you should get a red icon next to calibration workspace. Click on the plus sign by the date and then the plus sign by Automotive and then the plus sign by Celect plus and click on the ECM part number 3408300.
In the right hand pane you should now see a list of calibration codes, some have a plain white icon, some have a green tick and 3 will have a drive icon. Right click on any calibration in the RH pane and click "show installed calibrations", you will now only have the 3 calibrations I copied.
When connected to your ECM, right click the required calibration, and click "send to ECM, follow the on screen instructions.
You will need a calibration transfer password "Fleet count" If you do not have any ask in the insite 7.5 thread, tick the box use fleet count when you get the calibration password window.

Download the calibration file here

These are from the June disc so will expire end of October/November

Calibration C10614 supercedes to C10685

Click on ECM part number 3408300, and find calibration C10614. You will notice that it does not have a green tick in the icon, thay means the calibration is no longer valid. Right click on calibration C10614 and select "view replacement calibrations", and it will give you calibration C10685.

You can auto detect your calibration, or you can find it by going to your engine type = Celect Plus, then your ECM part number = 3408300, then your calibration code = C10614.
C10614 is not a valid calibration - it has a plain white icon, no green tick.
Right click on C10614 and select "view replacement calibrations"
You will get a pop up listing the replacement calibration = C10685.
Scroll down to C10685 click on the highlighted calibration C10685 and transfer to ECM.
