On my desktop computer I have two hard drives C dive on windows XP and D drive for my backup.
This morning I defragmenter my two hard drives now I have conflict with the D drive.
When I go to open D drive it says:
The disk in drive D is not formatted
Do you want to format it now?
If I take yes option I think I may lose my backup files
So I used no option
Can some one explain how I can get to open the D drive now?
Any help much appreciated.

You have tried rebooting/safe mode ect.
Is it physically a second hard drive or is 1 with 2 partitions

I have tried in safe mode but no joy mate.
It?s the second hard drive I kept for immo files and dash files.
I am ~~~~ed if I ever lose all my files because this is my 5 years work.
This was what happened to get to corrupt the drive, yesterday morning I defragmenter C dive then when I started decrementing the second drive at the end a message occurred there are three viruses do you want to delete them?
I chose no and then this drive stopped working.
I have been reading on another forum that if you can download master boot record you should able to get your drive up and running.
I have got the software it?s the matter of how to get going is the problem.
Any advice you can give me mate. Thanks for your time you may be my life saver.

You should be able to repair the drive from hiren boot cd mate.
I only ever repaired MBR from win xp disc when i was having allot of i/o errors.
