Hi mates,

I have a non-working audi a4 rb8 instrument cluster here on my bench.

Someone tried to adapt it with Vagdashcan and ****ed it up. As I know also the eeprom was already disassembled. After this action, the instrument cluster is not repsonding to any diagnostic request. When I try to connect the dashboard with VCDS I don't get any connection.

Why is the cluster not responding? Do they have damaged the flash chip?

Now my question is, how to get the immo data out of the eeprom?

Thanks. :rangers2:

Cheers, d2mike

Hi d2Mike,

I can't answer about the cause about non responding.

But, if you can read eeprom, and if you are lucky, maybe this tool can help you to extract login from dump:
Welcome to: DeJaVu uVaJeD -> support site (http://dialab.ee/dejavu/Support/)

thanks to exe123 that gave us information ;)

Hi guys,

thanks for your replies.
I have DeJaVu ;) but also this application is not establishing a connection :(

Where's the 24c08 located? How to read it?

Thanks

It is possible when the eeprom is corrupted.
You have to write any RB8 dump via clip to eeprom.
After that repair with Dejavue RB8 option.

Eeprom is under the gauges. you have to pull the arrows and displays and remove the plastic frame

Normally every rbx instrument cluster is reachable when the eeprom is corrupted.
I think they damaged the flash? Could it be?

Alright, thanks.
Where do I get the so called "Klammer" or "Clip"?

Hi,

only not conection ??
or ike not go on ..?

In VCDS try communication only via K line or connect your adapter only to 12 v , GND and K - Line , to OBD connector ..

I have same problem with this car ......

You are wrong. I had several cases on RB8 where it is not reachable anymore.

The instrument cluster does not start correct and does not establish a connection via OBD.

I never had the problem with corrupted eeprom and accessiblity.

Where to get the Clip?

depending on your location.
you can also desolder eeprom and program it via socket.
search for pomona 5250 :

Thanks mate.
Hope to get it here :)

Edit:
Found it, but this just a cable. Do I need an extra eeprom programmer for it?
Sorry for my dump questions, but with this kind of hardware I'm not familiar.

I think that your instrument is dead ...:beheaded:

Of course you will need a programmer for it like UPA-USB, Xprog-M, Seeprog, Beeprog... or any other cheap 24Cxx I2C eeprom programmer.
