My frustration with AVDI commander is increasing by the day. I got another customer for toyota avalon 2006. He has 1 smart key. Need spare.
I reset Immo. Next is key registration. Key registration failure. Was message i was receiving for 6 times of trying to program key. Car stop to work because no key can start vehicle again.
I removed the terminal head of battery. Plug it back. All light on the dash board stop to work.
I removed the battery head. For over 5 hours no way.
Now, car is packed. What I am doing wrong. My frustration is increasing. Other locksmiths laughing at me. I told them to buy original tools instead of the chinese toyota dongle but now I am almost like another big fool after spending thousands on AVDI commander.
Please what can be done to car. I might go to jail. Please help me. I am dying and my blood pressure is killing me.
If press start button, no light come on dash. Is smart box bad again?

hello,
smart key can't be registered again (it is like OTP memory)
the resetting immo procedure is for the new key registration.
Try to use techstream/IT-2 for key registration.
If don't work then you will need a new key, certification ecu and ID code box.
Sorry

I had a similar experience and got it working again with Toyota Denso Diagnostic tester borrowed from the dealer...

First off mate, Try not to panic when things like this happen. Everybody I know has been there. Not point in worrying yourself to death over it.
Make a few phone calls, borrow different tools, try to find something that will get it going again. See if someone you know is friendly enough with a dealer to borrrow a tester for an hour.
If you get that worried when it all goes wrong, taking out public liability insurance could give you some peace of mind.

I use AVDI with Techstream and with Seed calculator from ( no addys :rulez: ) it's about $360.
Inportant: Anytime you have all keys lost or trying to add a used key, even smart key - you have to reset the ecu (16min). This will require Seed number calculation.
Then you add your new (used) key first and then add customer's old key.
Works well. Don't use commander, still buggy.

please what do i do to get out of this problem. This is the worst weekend for me. No ignition on when you press the start button on car. How do i make power to come back to dash when you press the start/stop button switch. Has anything damaged on the car. AVDI is a problem yet they not want to accept and tell customers. Now, I have blood pressure at 200/100. I have panic attacks. I have not slept. I had fit and slumped and my wife is scared i could die just because i am trying to make a living. can someone help me please.

Make sure battery is over 12V,
It's it's below - reset will not happen, and get problems. I always check battery is fully charged before 16 min reset or put charger on. These daylight RL are a drain on it.
I sent you some instructions in PM. You have smart ecu, so you should have reset smart ecu not regular ecu. Try doing it now after battery check.

I got the same problem here, now I got an idea if works will share for sure, but, if you can find virgine dumps for ID code box, SmartBOX(CertificationECU) you do not need anything else just need to write keys

In your case it seems that the Immo reset has done its job successfully if the original key also stopped working. But why you can't register the key is strange. If you have the Passthru driver you can use Toyota Techstream with AVDI and try to program the key.
It's complicated the different key programming procedures in the commander I also don't know what I should do :( .Perhaps you should ask Miro how to do it?
I wish you good luck

As far as i know.
Put the logo with face to ignition lock place, and than press the start button, to see is ignition is on than (like that you avoid handsf. reading). If yes, try to reg. key again but now just with one in your hand. If no i think you need to go with whole set, id box immo and keys, but even that case isn't so bad, here is around 1500e
Or buy stupid car from costumer and buy yourself your peace. Or take it to the dealer, pay the bill and sleep well.
Dont know what more to say.
Good luck

Don't fret yourself on this issue, you will get it to work. The clone toyota commander will program the car as it is without problems, no need changing anything,, so also the obd2 orange tool as this scenerio is like having no key at all situation.

no customer is worth that much stress buddy, shut doors of business and take a break. Leave message on answer machine saying you have gone away for a few days due to family matters. This will give you plenty of time to sort out problem without stress. If you carry on like this or you will end up in hospital, is it really worth it? just relax mate, so the car doesnt go, its not the end of the world, you'll sort it out when you can :top:

How do you know that your key is actually working?
was it used? or brand new?
Have you tried other key?
Techstream or mvp pro are the proper tools for this job.

AVDI also does say it can do it though so you cant blame him for buying it. Of course its AVDI though and theres lots of things they say it will do and it doesnt.

sorry mate, i just dont like it, its a rip off for what it costs in my opinion. Some things it does well but for the price, it should do everything it says it can do well and it doesnt. Merc and Porsche I have issues with, its just so damn buggy and thats very frustrating. BMW doesnt do CAS Keys properly and always lock up the steering so you have to reset it everytime. I dont have Toyota and wouldnt invest in it either as I dont have any trust in this product, the quality is very dissapointing and the customer support sux.
I have tried virginising some Merc ecu's with it, it doesnt do it properly. There Mecredes NEC Programmer tool is absolute junk and doesnt work either, its just a rip off mate. I dont have Opel or Renault either which I would have invested in for keys but I dont trust it and who needs it when TMPro2 does them faultlessly every single time and customer support is perfect!

hello
i think the reset was done but you said he have one key that key if it sub key cannt be rgesterd our swith on the dash
some times when you reset the smart system you need at least one (master key)
and after you register the master key you can add the sub key
and if the car battery are below 10v you cant add any key
so be cool and search for master key

Can some one help by sending me picture of ID Box and exact location of ID box . Miro said it is in the trunk. Car is Avalon 2006.
Now I can help you - but as I say you before - you need to read eeprom 93c86
from ID box ( located in trunk) and send me, after that I will modify and
you need to program back dump which I send you and youy will have power on
dashboard and you can use again function - Register key.

I feel sorry for cyrixcard, this would be very stressful for him. Its not the work that stresses us all out, its the time limits the customers put us on, everyone wants everything done in 5 minutes, some days I just feel like closing the doors and never opening them again but we have to eat right? Hey cyrixcard, hope you get this soretd out real soon buddy:top:

do secondhand used key cards work on these toyotas?

Yes used key works.
But take care about two important issues:
1. Check whether your key is master key (registration of sub key only not allowed)
2. Once started key registration procedure you should finish it. If not finished and ignition becomes off no more possible by diagnostic to register the key. Only way is to reset ID-box of the vehicle. This problem is described in the bulletins from toyota/lexus.
If someone have a problem with ignition on - let send me dump from ID-Box I'll reset it (93C86 or 93C66).

Help Cyrix to locate that eeprom. I've never done this 06 Avalon but isn't ID box eeprom inside ECU, or in other words same thing?

The module he is looking for is behind the glove box, behind it there are 4modules there and its the one with 3 connectors coming out of it. Bigger than the rest. Remove the bigger of the 2 in 1 module and there is your 93c86, read it and send it to Miro, thats what controls power to the units and your light will come back on on the Start button and dash.

personally I think AVDI toyota commander is a rip-off, very useless for diagnostics and just a little for key programming. your best bet is to use Techstream, I have programmed a lexus IS350 even with not power to ignition, it still connected. since you have AVDI, just download Techstrem.

AVDI is a ripoff, a stupid tool, and not worth any stress. I called on a person from another city, he did not bring out the id code box, nothing.. he came with a chinese tool which was covered so i do not know the tool and he did the job in just 5 minutes. Stupid AVDI. Stupid support. Locksmiths are not meant to be rocket scientists to do simple job. Cars have been automated for the user with alot of comfort electronics.. so why are locksmiths suffering with stupid tools like AVDI commander with their hellish support. I have original carprog yet, they refuse to respond when you need support.

Glad to see you got it all sorted out buddy. I also dont know anyone who likes CarProg either, your 100% correct. Did you get the Toyota fixed with the Orange Dongle or you dont know what it was? Could it be that the chinese clones are actually better? OMG what am I saying, slap, slap!!! But it makes you wonder thats for sure.

Many chinese tools are better at doing just simple jobs. Period. The locksmith came with a chinese toyota dongle and did the job which my sold called AVDI commander could not do. Again, Carprog is a useless tool. After collecting 300 euro for toyota, 300 euro for lexus, 300 euro for mercedes. No more update, no more support. Many toyota cars not start with carprog.
I am using my AVDI simply for reading dumps from mercedes benz ml and program by gambit, read pin code from chrysler and program by sbb clone. you can see
