hi 500 is good box so long as you know how to ftp files over to it from computer and if you can flash image if needed or make sure to buy one all loaded
they are not just plug and play but as i said if you know what you are doing to get one going you will be ok
also there is loads of help on net to set them up
a simple box to do is openbox s10 hd every thing is loaded with usb stick and they are about 60-70 pounds
next for the most simple to set up box would be blade 7000s every thing is done thru the controller you just download channel list from blade online takes 2 mins then just enter cline -newcamd line with controler another 5 mins so you are up and running in undr 10 mins but cost 150

The Dm500s clone is a really good box to start with, you can use this a building block to start understanding more about the satellite scene. The only downside to a Dm500s is the build quality, there is a make called Technomate, which also do a budget priced box. The Technomate Tm500 is by far a bettter build quality then a clone Dm500s, and you are getting a original box, rather than a copy. There will be many people out there who disagree with this opinion, but speaking as someone who has had both of these boxes, the Technomate Tm500/600 wins hands down. The support for the Dm500s clone is better than the Tm500, but they both run Enigma 1 firmware.

Decide if you want sd or hd thats a start.
Takes about 20 minutes to flash a box and set it up with bouquets, ccams etc
You wont regret it but for the money i would get a Dreambox 800hd especially if you have hd tv at home.
