As you can see, the wife managed to scuff the paintwork off the mirror casing, silly moo, lol, but thats woman drivers for ya again eh, lol.

Anyway, whats the best way to get this sorted ?

Its a vectra sri 55 plate (the newer nicer looking model), I dont know if its possible to buy that part of the mirror casing pre painted or what and fit my self and if so how hard is it to do that ?

Or is it a part that cannot be bought and fitted DiY ?

Or does it need to go to a body shop, simple as that ?

p.s
To be honest I am not that much of a car diY man nowdays like I used to be in my boy racer days, but if its just a simple case of snap off and snap on then thats not a prob, or if the likes of even halfords would fit it then that would be good as they are cheap at fitting small things like that, I think window wipers and bulbs and things they only take ?5.00, so that would mean the wifey could pop in and have them do it, but like I said earlier, I dont know if that would be even possible.?

Think for sommething that small match the paint up in aerosol a wet and dry and 3 coats of silver just mask it up well.
Not worth spending a fortune on something so small.
Might even pop out that bit,it did on my old Ford Mondeo.

The mirror backs come from the dealer painted in primer. Just get a bodyshop to fix the one on the car. I dont think they would charge very much to fix it.

what you think about those little touch up paint stick things you can get, they are like a little tube with a brush, I'm sure you know what I am talking about.

Could that be an easier option ?

It doesnt need to look perfect, just ok as from standing a few feet away etc.

I have used those little touch up paints before years ago and can remember you need to put on a few coats to build up the layers etc so that it comes to the same level as the real paint, but what would I need, would it be a primer first, then several coats of the paint left to dry over a few days between each coat and then finally a couple of coats of lauquer finish ?

You think that would do the trick or is that just a daft way to do it ?

you may still end up with a lump or streaks of paint,no harm to see if the backing of mirror is sold separate or not from main dealer and if in primer, for the next time lol
