View Full Version : Does anyone offer a reflashing service for Dreamboxs?

Hi,

I was wondering if there is anyone out there that offers a flashing service for Dreamboxes?

My DM800HD crashed after a rescan, so I did a factory reset and now it won't get past the "loading Engima2", so I'm guessing that a reflash is the only answer.

I could get my head around reflashing using Dreamup via a PC in my old DM500 days, but reflashing via a laptop and a web browser is probably going to be beyond my capability :-(

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Can you please try this.

Unplug your dm800hd from the wall.
Wait 30 secs or so.
Hold the on button at the front and do not let go.
Plug it back in, keep holding that button in.

Does it eventually say "stop" with an ip address eg 192.168.1.71 or something like that on the screen on the front of the box?

If so make a note of the number and report back, someone with more knowledge of your box will be able to advise which image ect you need. (which is the hardest part of flashing)

Thanks for the reply.

I?ve tried what you have suggested and I don?t see an IP address. The only numbers that I could see is SIM201 #76A

It was running a Gemini image.
I only bought in January this year and if I remember rightly it was a 800 Pro version with what was then the latest / updated tuner.

I would appreciate any help that anyone could offer including, whether there is anyone out there that offers a reflashing service.

Whilst you are waiting for a reply about a reflashing service.

Can you please tell us the make and model number of your router. (its that box with flashy lights that gives you the internet that is pluged into the phone socket).

It seems as if you need to turn on DCHP, if you give us that model and make of the router we should be able to give you the instructions to turn it on.

After you have got DCHP running flashing it should be the easiest thing you have ever done.

Thanks for all the replies. I finally got time to have a look at it and couldn't believe how easy it was following the guide here - Flash DM800 by DreamboxUK - YouTube
All was going well and managed to successfully to reflash the BlackHole image on, until the reboot stage. The box wouldn't reboot at all and now gives me a "NO CA FOUND" message.
I only have a laptop don't have access to a PC therefore won't be able to use Dreamup. Is there anyway to recover a bricked DM800HD?

i think i understand , please correct me if i am reading too much into this op

step1 , you needed help on 09/11/11
step2 , you were offered lots of free help immediately
step3 , you didnt have the decency to even reply to the offers from complete strangers offering "customer support" for free
step4 , you ****ed your box , and now come back to thank people, oh and also ask for more help !

Whilst I agree with Southpaw 100%..............

Here is the files needed to flash your DM800SE.

Second Stage Bootloader
http://hotfile.com/dl/124063258/8165...10620.nfi.html (http://hotfile.com/dl/124063258/816588c/sim2SE_SSL82_110620.nfi.html) -

Flashing Tool
sunray-flashup.rar - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download (http://www.4shared.com/file/ToeEdW02/SUNRAY-FlashUP.htm)

Images for DM800SE found:
Forum Gateway - Sat Universe (http://www.sat-universe.com/forumdisplay.php?f=486)

How To:

1. Open Sunray Flasher and connect the Mini USB Cable. Power on the box. Flash the Second Stage Bootloaderfile.
2. Turn off Dreambox and hold the front Standby button and power on. Open Internet Explorer and type in the DHCP IP (Firefox 4 browser won't work). Select the image you want to flash and flash it. Reboot.
3. Repeat Step 1.
4. Your done.

notes: If you don't get a DHCP IP, put your router IP to 192.168.0.1. if the Image you flashed gives error either, hardware or tuner try a new image.
if the computer does not detect the Dreambox with the usb cable install these drivers DRIVERS (http://goo.gl/tVybT)

This is easy...

Worked for me in no time...and I'm not that good !!!

I'll correct you, you ARE reading too much into this.

People that took time to reply to the thread, I PM'ed them to thank them for the advice given at the time that it was given. I think that I also told them that I might not have the time right away to have a look at it.

You will note that in my first post on the topic wasn't looking for free support but asking about someone who I could pay to reflash the box.
I've been a member of this forum for a number of years now. When I joined, I realised that there would be very little that I could contribute to the forum in terms of advice, so decided to be a supporting member to show my gratitude to the help that I had received.

I managed to get the NO CA FOUND error within a couple of hours of getting my box.

I fixed it following instructions on this forum, but I have since updated to DreamElite 2.1 with has SSL84A.

Anyway, to reflash MY box (DM800HD SE) I would use the Dream-Elite-2-1-dm800se-Sim2#84a.riyad66.nfi image and instructions in this post (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f205/r01-no-ca-error-found-se-226880/#post1245627)leaving out 11 & 12 as they are not needed. I used SUNRAY-FlashUP mentioned in that thread.

Don't know if this would work for you box as you may need a different image if your hardware is different.

Thanks both for your replies.

I have a DM800HD and not the SE model, which doesn?t have a mini USB port on the back. The connectors that I have on the back of mine is similar to these here ?

Is there any other alternative to using DreamUp and a serial cable on my model of DM800?

Thanks,

use mini-web and you can flash your box in 5 mins, as long as you choose a image with the correct sim and the latest 84a ssl included you should be fine. regards mdt

Unfortunately, if you managed to flash an incorrect bootloader ("NO CA FOUND"), dreamup ( with the null-modem cable ) is the only way to recover.

Sorry,

run dreamup , connect DM800 with cable
under dreamup select network and in the remote ip (box) put the ip you want for your box
now switch on the dreambox, dreamup will prepared the box for flash
when ready for flash
take the remote ip (box) then follow the procedure through the web now
192,168.xxxx.xxx
will get to the upgrade firmware page the try the image you want

Hi,

Thanks to all that have helped me either by replying to this thread or PM me directly, it is greatly appreciated.

I can finally say that all is up and running!

I think that the mistakes that I made is that I didn?t realise that there are ?bootloaders? installed on the clone boxes and that you have to either flash an image of the same version bootloader or use a flash with the bootloader built in (not quite correct, but it my language).

Anyway it seems that I tried to flash an image with a different bootloader to that currently installed on my box and bricked it, coming up with the dreaded ?Error 01 No CA Found? message.
It seems that the only way to reflash is with a patched version of Dreamup (available in the downloads). Trouble is Dreamup only works via a serial cable, so it meant be either using a mates PC or buying a USB to Serial adaptor to use with my laptop.

I read about the problems with the Maplins USB / Serial adaptor and read a post where it this one had worked, so decided to buy an adapter to give it a go -
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360371193941?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)

21 days later and it arrives, plug it in and Win 7 doesn?t recognise the driver. Arghh! I managed to find a driver here -
USB to Serial Adapter driver downloads and documentation (http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm)

I plugged it and found it pretty easy to get a connection. I then followed the guide here (although had to use the 2nd solution)
http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f34/fix-no-ca-error-70341/

As I had previously changed the bootloader, it seems that you need to flash the new bootloader first, followed by the image itself and then the bootloader again at the end.

I decided on an OpenPLi image ? there are probably more sophicated images around, but call it brand loyalty if you will (I used to used PLi images in my DM500C days and loved it) and all seems fine.

Hope this helps someone.

Once again thanks to all those that have helped.
