The trans code is on a sticker under the boot mat

Hi

If its DUU code than its a common problems of Crown Wheel Rivets do brake and ends up also braking the gearbox causing...........

See the picture attached of the one I did repair last.......

And at that age I am 85% sure it is DUU

That picture is VERY classic for 1.4litre 16 valve engines gearbox...have seen them broken in pieces. Ashraf should be right about gearbox code.

Strange, we have here on this rock I'd say about 30% of the cars on the road are Polo's, Ibiza'a and Golf's, most if not all of the Polo's and Ibiza's are 1.400 16valve and never seen that problem

somebody in their wisdom may have said use aluminum rivets in gearbox as they are lighter,same as the crappy barrel and key kits that break when you use abit more force to open lol.
as if everything was as reliable as a golf.[ garage man rubbing hands together ]
