When posting Factory password requests and pasting the details or attaching a file you are handing out the:
1) Engine Serial Number
2) ECM Serial Number
3) ET License Number
These are all Traceable by Caterpillar and I would imagine they are snooping around these forums and as such blatantly displaying this information on a public site could have consequences.
If you have a genuine ET lic then Cat will know who it is licensed too.
The engine serial number may belong to an engine that is in Warranty and your customer may find himself with NO warranty if his serial Number is black listed. The ECM serial is also traceable.
My thoughts would be to use the PM system to request factory Passwords so as to avoid drawing unwanted attention to you or your unsuspecting Customer.
There seems to be many guys out there willing to help with the odd Password so maybe that is the best way to keep your dirty laundry away from CAT?
I am not available 99% of the time but I'm sure others out there will help you guys who want a password.
