Hi Guys im starting a new a thread for my bmw problem. I want to replace the ecu of a 316 e36 as i cannot find a solution. i have 2 ecu's not sure if it is transponder. The one ecu i have has a green label on it bosch number 0261200403 light green. The other one has a maroon sticker on it cannot make out the number but the plugs work. inside it has a dual inline chip looks like the 27c512 with a window on it. If anyone has info on this can you please assist me and if they can work do you have a immo off file for it please. The vehicle im trying to fit this to is a e36 316 automatic 4 cylinder. Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

I've never worked with a 447 before, it may be quite rare, but if you can open it, and you see a removable eprom, 27cXXX, then just swap it over, as it will include the EWS serial.

If it is a flash memory / soldered, try to get the dump of each ECU, and you can transfer the EWS serial (or let me know, and I'll transfer them for you)

it can be 1998 / 99 not sure exactly i need to find that ecu then silly question but is there anyone that has one and is willing to send it to south africa cappe town by any chance he he im getting desperate and the quotes im getting from the guys with the gt1 is about the price of a 2nd hand ecu with no immo thats just to synch the ews and dme . Just out of interest what do the gt1 clones go for or inpa for that matter im considering getting me 1 with my bday coming up clearly im going to need it going forward?

providing you have a good ews unit with correct transponder swapping ecu over should not be a problem.ews 2 isn number changes when you do a re-sync with gt1 inpa or pa soft 140. if you use inpa you can read isn in ecu then enter into ews .
from what you have said you have no crank so you must have problem with ews or chip.
what diagnostics tools do you have. what fault codes do you get when connected

personally launch and ecu expert the faults were key no 2 not recognized with launch and in dme 81 ews signal then with ecu expert it said no signal or ews short to battery positive thats about all i got. And i cannot align ews and dme with either it has no option to do so. Thanks for the input to be frank ive decided to go all out and find a new or 2nd hand ecu with no immo on it or one i can alter the dump on to make it immo off. For the price i was quoted to use gt1 its a deposit for 1 of my own and if you read my other post related to this thread you will notice im busy since 1st november with this car and the customer has evolved into a fire breathing dragon he he
